Evans syndrome in conjunction with rheumatoid arthritis and SLE: A unique case of autoimmune intersection.

Evans syndrome is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), often linked with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We present a case of a 25-year-old female with a history of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who presented with new SLE symptoms, including left-sided weakness, pallor, and a photosensitive rash. Laboratory tests confirmed Evans syndrome, and MRI showed a cerebral infarction.

Early-onset renal dysfunction in Jeune syndrome: A case report with atypical presentation.

Jeune syndrome, a rare autosomal recessive disorder, is characterized by skeletal abnormalities, particularly a narrow, bell-shaped chest, leading to severe respiratory distress in newborns. This case report details a full-term female neonate presenting with significant respiratory challenges, typical skeletal features, and early-onset renal dysfunction. Despite normal initial imaging, persistent renal abnormalities were observed, underscoring the need for early diagnosis, vigilant monitoring, and a multidisciplinary management approach to optimize outcomes for patients with Jeune syndrome.

Stochastic computer experiments of the thermodynamic irreversibility of bulk nanobubbles in supersaturated and weak gas-liquid solutions.

Spontaneous gas-bubble nucleation in weak gas-liquid solutions has been a challenging topic in theory, experimentation, and computer simulations. In analogy with recent advances in crystallization and droplet formation studies, the diffusive-shielding stabilization and thermodynamic irreversibility of bulk nanobubble (bNB) mechanisms are revisited and deployed to characterize nucleation processes in a stochastic framework of computer experiments using the large-scale atomic/molecular massively parallel simulator code. Theoretical bases, assumptions, and limitations underlying the irreversibility hypothesis of bNBs, and their computational counterparts, are extensively described and illustrated.

Posterior mandibular glandular cyst: A rare case report.

Background: Odontogenic glandular cyst (GOC) is one of the uncommon cysts of the jaws with difficult diagnosis due to the presence of many clinical and histopathological overlaps with other odontogenic lesions, and the definitive diagnosis is only possible by histological examination. It is initially asymptomatic and affects the anterior mandible with no gender predilection. Surgical resection is the preferred treatment due to the high rate of recurrence.

CAR-NK Cell: A New Paradigm in Tumor Immunotherapy.

The tumor microenvironment (TME) is greatly multifaceted and immune escape is an imperative attribute of tumors fostering tumor progression and metastasis. Based on reports, the restricted achievement attained by T cell immunotherapy reflects the prominence of emerging other innovative immunotherapeutics, in particular, natural killer (NK) cells-based treatments. Human NK cells act as the foremost innate immune effector cells against tumors and are vastly heterogeneous in the TME.

Current Status of Knowledge and Awareness of Diabetes Mellitus in Saudi Arabia.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease, and the complications may be life-threatening; however, with proper treatment and control measures, it can be very well-managed. Self-management training and education of diabetes are critical in diabetes care and management. It is essential that patients with diabetes must have a comprehensive understanding of the nature of the disease, risk factors, complications, and possible treatment modalities to attenuate the complications.

The prevalence of smoking and its associated factors among military personnel in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: A national study.

Aim: The aim was to measure the prevalence of smoking and identify its potential predictors among military personnel in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Materials And Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out among military personnel in the five military regions of KSA between January 2009 and January 2011. The sample of 10,500 military personnel in the Saudi Armed Forces was equally divided among the five regions with a ratio 3:7 for officers and soldiers.

To report the long-term follow-up and visual outcome after excision of a traumatic iris cyst. A 4-year-old female presented with an iris cyst in her left eye 2 years after corneal laceration repair. An 8 × 7 mm cyst was located between 1 and 6 O'clock on the iris, extending into the anterior chamber.

Neurological features of congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscles type 2 with mutations in PHOX2A.

Congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscles type 2 (CFEOM2) is a complex strabismus syndrome that results from mutations in the homeodomain transcription factor PHOX2A. To define the clinical and neuroimaging features of patients with this autosomal recessive syndrome, we studied 15 patients with genetically defined CFEOM2. All patients underwent full neurological, neuro-ophthalmological and orthoptic assessments.

[Evaluation of hepatic resections in patients with benign and malignant lesions].

Objective: To evaluate hepatic resections in patient with benign and malignant lesions during the years 1997 to 2002 at the Autonomous University Hospital Service of Maracaibo, Venezuela.

Materials: We carried out 18 hepatic resections for benign and/or malignant lesions; traumatic and infectious lesions were excluded.

The application of the Conners' Rating Scales to a Sudanese sample: an analysis of parents' and teachers' ratings of childhood behaviour problems.

The aim of the current study was to assess the equivalence of Sudanese and North American versions of the Conners' Rating Scales. The reliability, internal consistency, factor score intercorrelation, levels of sex differences and prevalence of symptoms found with Sudanese Arabic adaptations of the parent and teacher scales were compared with previously reported data from North American studies. The scales were translated into Sudanese Arabic, backtranslated and piloted among teachers and parents.

Objective: To review the results of combined trabeculotomy and trabeculectomy as a primary procedure in congenital glaucoma.

Methods: A retrospective review of 100 consecutive eyes in 60 children undergoing surgery from December 30, 1991, to April 17, 1996. Features at initial examination, ie, corneal size and clarity, presence or absence of anterior segment structural abnormalities, and intraocular pressure (IOP), were noted.

Individuals with the classic form of congenital fibrosis of the extraocular muscles (CFEOM1) are born with bilateral ptosis and a restrictive infraductive external ophthalmoplegia.

Trabeculotomy is a well-documented procedure for reducing intraocular pressure in primary infantile glaucoma with cloudy corneas. However, the efficacy of the procedure is reduced in glaucoma associated with other ocular disorders. We report a child with lens-corneal adhesions in whom trabeculotomy produced a secondary cataract.
