Seroprevalence and risk factors of Bluetongue virus in camels in Northern Oman: a cross-sectional study.

Bluetongue virus (BTV) has emerged as a significant concern in Oman, affecting various animal species, including camels. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the seroprevalence of BTV in camels and explore the associated risk factors within the northern region of Oman. Between October 2016 and March 2017, 439 serum samples and 100 blood samples were collected from camels in five governorates.

Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between personality traits and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among adolescents in Saudi Arabia.

Background: Individuals with psychological distress are at significantly higher risk of arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. However, influence of psychological distress on oral health remains a concern. The purpose of this study was to evaluate psychological distress and its relationship with caries, oral hygiene status, gingival health, and other factors among adults.

Type II Pleuropulmonary Blastoma in a Two-Year-Old Girl: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is an extremely rare and highly malignant intrathoracic tumor in children, representing a unique form of aggressive primary lung carcinoma with a strong tendency for local recurrence. In this case report, we present a two-year-old girl who has had recurrent respiratory infections since birth. A chest X-ray revealed an abnormality, prompting a referral to a surgical team, where the lesion was identified as type II PPB based on histological analysis.

A holographic telementoring system depicting surgical instrument movements for real-time guidance in open surgeries.

Background And Objective: During open surgeries, telementoring serves as a valuable tool for transferring surgical knowledge from a specialist surgeon (mentor) to an operating surgeon (mentee). Depicting the intended movements of the surgical instruments over the operative field improves the understanding of the required tool-tissue interaction. The objective of this work is to develop a telementoring system tailored for open surgeries, enabling the mentor to remotely demonstrate the necessary motions of surgical instruments to the mentee.

Genetic factors play an important role in ASD, but about 75% of ASD cases have an undetermined genetic risk. We extensively investigated an ASD cohort made of 102 families from the Middle Eastern population of Qatar.

Optimizing outcome reporting after robotic flexible ureteroscopy for management of renal calculi: Introducing the concept of tetrafecta.

Robotic flexible ureteroscopy (RFURS) has shown encouraging results in terms of stone free rate (SFR) and better ergonomics compared to conventional FURS. Background: The world has witnessed one of the largest pandemics, dubbed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Objectives: To report our initial experience of day care percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) with early hospital discharge within less than 24 hours of the procedure.

Patients And Methods: The files of patients treated with PCNL between 1st January 2020 till 31st December 2022 were retrospectively reviewed. Day care PCNL was defined as the discharge of patients either on the same day or within 24 hours after surgery.

Detection of foot-and-mouth disease viruses from the A/AFRICA/G-I genotype in the Sultanate of Oman.

Rapid identification and characterization of circulating foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) strains is crucial for effective disease control. In Oman, a few serological and molecular studies have been conducted to identify the strains of FMDV responsible for the outbreaks that have been occurring within the country. In this study, 13 oral epithelial tissue samples from cattle were collected from suspected cases of FMD in Ash Sharqiyah North, Al Batinah North, Dhofar and Ad Dhakhyilia governorates of Oman between 2018 and 2021.

Chronic kidney diseases and the risk of colorectal cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: We conducted this review to offer a comprehensive search and up-to-date overview of the currently available information about the probability risk of colorectal cancer among chronic kidney disease patients.

Method: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews (PRISMA) and meta-analysis guidelines. We identified, reviewed, and extracted from Scopus, PubMed, EMBASE, and Komaki Databases for research publications on chronic kidney disease and colorectal cancer published between February 2016 and January 2023.
