Objectives: To investigate the geographic distribution of common cystic fibrosis (CF) variants in the western and southern regions of Saudi Arabia.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 69 patients diagnosed with CF at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center, Jeddah. Patient data were collected retrospectively between June 2000 and November 2021.
A new bioactive oxygenated homoditerpenic compound along with one known compound from the antimicrobial active ethanol extract of leaves of an endemic plant Centaurothamnus maximus was isolated. The n -hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and ethanol fractions of C. maximus leaves were evaluated for their antimicrobial potential by using standard agar well diffusion method against various microorganisms viz.

Inspite of strong interference between the sample- and the detector-associated prompt gamma-rays, an excellent agreement has been observed between the experimental and calculated yields of the prompt gamma-rays, indicating successful application of the large volume BGO detector in the PGNAA analysis of bulk samples using low energy prompt gamma-rays.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFive experiments involving 3,100 settable eggs with living embryos of commercial broiler parent stock were conducted to determine the effect of ascorbic acid (AA) and cooling during egg incubation on embryonic weight, hatchability, percentage of cull chicks, embryonic mortality, and body weights of the hatched chicks. The treatments were carried out at 15, 15, 17, 11 and 19 d of incubation for Experiments 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. The treatments for the experiments were as follows: 1) eggs injected with 0.
