Zirconia Ceramics.

Zirconia ceramics have become popular among other dental ceramics thanks to their biological, mechanical, optical, and aesthetic properties. CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/ computer-aided manufacturing) technology improvement has played a vital role in the increased popularity of zirconia ceramics; easy computer manipulation significantly expanded the possibility of using different types of restorations. Zirconia ceramics have a broad spectrum of indications in prosthetic dentistry, from simple restorations to complex structures supported by dental implants.

Evaluation of the Injection Pain with the Use of Vibraject during Local Anesthesia Injection for Children: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Aim: To compare the outcomes of the conventional syringe and the outcomes of the vibraject-assisted injection (VAI) in terms of the pain of the needle insertion during various intraoral injections of local anesthesia in children aged 6-9 years.

Materials And Methods: A total number of 75 children aged 6-9 years were selected from patients visiting the pediatric dental clinic at Damascus University. The children were assigned into three equal groups (25 children each) according to the type of intraoral injection needed for the treatment: Groups [Group I: received upper buccal infiltrations (UBI), Group II: received posterior palatal infiltrations (PPI), and Group III: received inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB)].

Assessment of the readiness of restorations manufactured by CAD/CAM in terms of marginal fit (Part I).

Background: The master cast is the gold standard for the control and eventual adjustment of restorations produced by conventional procedures. Some digital workflow bypasses the master cast and relies completely on the precision of the CAD/CAM restoration.

Aim: To examine the reproducibility of the margins of CAD/CAM restorations generated from a single digital scan.

Initial absolute monocyte count as an immune biomarker for clinical response in acute myeloid leukemia with monocytic differentiation.

Background: Absolute monocyte count (AMC) correlates with survival outcomes in various hematologic malignancies. However, its role in myeloid malignancies including AML needs to be highlighted. So, this prospective cohort study aimed to assess the effect of AMC on the treatment outcome and survival in a 56 adult de novo AML patients with monocytic differentiation, admitted to the Clinical Hematology Unit, Internal Medicine Department, in a tertiary referral hospital in Egypt, from July 2016 to June 2019.

Giant leiomyoma of the oesophagus with eosinophilic infiltration.

The most common benign tumour of the oesophagus is leiomyoma. Haemopoietic elements rarely infiltrate oesophageal leiomyoma. We report the case of a 24-year-old man with a long history of intermittent dysphagia.

The use of surgery in displaced scapular neck fractures.

Objectives: To evaluate the use of surgical management in displaced scapular neck fractures.

Subjects And Methods: 14 adult male patients (average age 34 years, range 19-44) with displaced scapular neck fractures were treated by open reduction and internal fixation in Al-Jahra Hospital, Kuwait from April 2000 to January 2004. Patients' clinical and radiological results were analyzed retrospectively.

Surgical treatment for ipsilateral fractures of femoral neck and shaft.

Objectives: To review the primary and the final results of surgical management of ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures.

Subjects And Methods: Seventeen patients (2 female, 15 male, average age 37 years, range 20-60) with ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures were treated by compression plate fixation for the femoral shaft fractures and dynamic hip screw or cannulated cancellous screw fixation for the neck fractures in Al-Razi and Al-Jahra Hospitals, Kuwait, from March 1996 to June 2002. The clinical and radiological primary and final results were analyzed retrospectively.
