Laryngeal spindle cell carcinoma (SpCC) is a unique and very aggressive form of laryngeal cancer. This neoplasm, consisting of malignant epithelial and mesenchymal elements, presents major diagnostic challenges, and there is a lack of conventional therapeutic approaches due to its rarity. This report describes a case of a 53-year-old female who experienced persistent difficulty speaking and a dry cough after contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Anorectal mucosal melanoma (AMM) is a rare and highly aggressive malignancy. It frequently presents with nonspecific symptoms, often resulting in delayed diagnosis and poor prognosis. This report describes the case of a 60-year-old male who presented with a painful para-anal papule that progressed to a fistula.

Article Synopsis
  • Pancreatic cancer (PC), especially pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), is a highly aggressive and difficult-to-treat disease with a high mortality rate.
  • Existing treatment options for PDAC are inadequate, making personalized medicine essential for effective therapy, alongside a deeper understanding of how PDAC develops.
  • The review discusses the role of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in PDAC's progression, presents current clinical data on targeting this pathway, and suggests potential combination therapies that could improve patient outcomes.

The metastasis of a primary lung tumor to the mouth cavity is a rare occurrence. In addition, the occurrence of neuroendocrine bronchial carcinoma with large cells is uncommon. When metastases are not possible to surgically remove, the conventional treatment for large-cell neuroendocrine tumors (LCNET) is still used.

Teratomas are classified as germ-cell tumors. They occur more frequently in the gonads, but extragonadal localization can also occur. Retroperitoneal teratomas are rare and require multidisciplinary management.

Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) is a common condition in oncology. The lack of specificity in radiological and clinical characteristics of carcinomatosis makes their etiological diagnosis difficult. Metastatic infiltrating lobular breast cancer with PC is also a common occurrence in daily medical practice.

Colorectal cancer is a common cancer worldwide. The major sites of colorectal cancer metastasis are the liver, lungs, peritoneum, lymph nodes, and bones. However, secondary localization in the bladder is extremely rare.

Conjunctival melanoma is a rare but aggressive condition that can arise from healthy conjunctiva, pre-existing nevi, or precancerous conditions like Reese's melanosis. This acquired primary conjunctival melanosis can significantly impact an individual's quality of life due to its potential for recurrence and metastasis. Effective treatment typically requires a multidisciplinary approach to optimize outcomes.

Cisplatin is a cancer therapy drug commonly used. It is well-known for its antineoplastic properties, as well as for its numerous adverse effects, particularly its neurotoxicity. Symptoms associated with a central nervous system injury are unusual but can present a diagnostic challenge.

Article Synopsis
  • * Diagnostic confirmation was achieved through immunohistochemical analysis, and imaging revealed metastatic disease, leading to palliative chemotherapy after initial radiotherapy.
  • * For VM, surgery is typically the standard treatment for early stages, whereas advanced cases require immunotherapy and targeted therapy; ongoing clinical trials and expert collaboration are crucial for improving understanding and management strategies.

Purpose: Open-access publishing expanded opportunities to give visibility to research results but was accompanied by the proliferation of predatory journals (PJos) that offer expedited publishing but potentially compromise the integrity of research and peer review. To our knowledge, to date, there is no comprehensive global study on the impact of PJos in the field of oncology.

Materials And Methods: A 29 question-based cross-sectional survey was developed to explore knowledge and practices of predatory publishing and analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression.

Introduction And Importance: Multiple Primary Malignant Neoplasms (MPMNs) are rare and refer to the occurrence of two or more distinct primary cancers with unrelated histopathological features in one patient. MPMNs can be classified as synchronous when tumors appear simultaneously or within six months of each other, and as metachronous when identified six months or more after the initial cancer diagnosis. While breast cancer often co-occurs with other primary cancers such as colorectal, endometrial, and ovarian cancers, the simultaneous presence of invasive lobular breast carcinoma and clear cell renal cancer is rare.

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is an extremely rare vascular tumor, which can pose a diagnostic dilemma. It affects women more than men and is mainly found in the liver, lung, and bone. To date, there are no known predisposing factors.

Small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is highly aggressive, with a severe tendency for metastasis. Pancreatic metastasis in SCLC is uncommon, also jaundice as a major symptom of small-cell lung cancer is even rarer. The diagnosis of pancreatic metastasis is a real challenge for the medical team, it relies on both radiological and pathological details.

Germ cell tumors are malignant tumors that mostly develop in the gonads. Extragonadal localization is rare and may affect the mediastinal and sacrococcygeal regions. Mediastinal seminoma is a malignant germ cell tumor of the mediastinum.

Epithelioid sarcoma (ES) is an uncommon soft tissue sarcoma. It is usually located in the extremities and exceptionally in the neck. Its diagnosis constitutes a real challenge which is based on histology and immunohistochemistry staining that must be interpreted with caution given the anatomopathological similarities to other tumors.

Article Synopsis
  • * The reported incidence of breast metastases from gastric cancer is very low, ranging from 0.5 to 1.3%, and most cases are only documented through individual case reports.
  • * A 22-year-old female patient with this rare condition was diagnosed through immunohistochemistry and radiology techniques and received palliative chemotherapy as part of her treatment plan.

Uterine adenosarcoma remains a highly aggressive tumor and is less described in the literature, with an unfavorable prognosis and an increased risk of local and distant recurrence. However, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy offer local control of the disease, and overall survival remains reduced. We report the case of a 79-year-old patient with stage IIIB uterine adenosarcoma, confirmed by immunohistochemistry and initially diagnosed with postmenopausal metrorrhagia.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive breast cancer subset associated with a worse prognosis and poor response to conventional chemotherapy. Despite recent advances in drug discovery, its management is still a challenge for clinicians, illuminating the unmet need to develop novel treatment approaches. Antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) are innovative oncology drugs that combine the specificity of monoclonal antibodies and the high efficacy of anticancer payloads, to deliver cytotoxic drugs selectively to cancer cells.

Platinum-resistant ovarian cancer is difficult to treat and has a poor prognosis. Patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer have limited treatment options and often have a limited benefit from existing chemotherapeutic agents. There is a lack of contemporary effective anticancer drugs and reliable predictive biomarkers for this aggressive cancer.
