Zinc is a trace nutrient essential for the normal growth and development of human body. The main aim was to evaluate the significant association between measured zinc status in relation to different skin disorders and their severity. PubMed®, Google® Scholar™ and Cochrane© Reviews databases were searched for studies from January 2017 to June 2021, using the terms; zinc serum levels, zinc plasma levels and different dermatosis in the review, only human studies in English language were reviewed and the studies designs were controlled, cross sectional, observational and analytic types.

In this review we show how the neuronal theory is relevant to the convergence theory for the mechanism causing vitiligo, especially the segmental type. Neuropeptides and neurotransmitters, such as neuropeptide Y and dopamine, can be central to the pathological mechanisms of melanocyte destruction. They link into a bidirectional network connecting cutaneous nerves, the neuroendocrine axis and the immune system, and through their local influence on cutaneous inflammation, to the antigen-specific regulatory T cells and the chemokine ligand type 9/chemokine receptor type 1 axis, which is thought to be the final pathway for melanocyte destruction.

Habit tic nail deformity is a nail dystrophy resulting from habitual, repetitive trauma to the nail. It is usually acquired in adulthood, however, we report a case of habit tic nail deformity in an 8 year old boy. The diagnosis was made clinically with further history revealing that the boy repeatedly rubbed his thumbnails and pushed the cuticles.

This was a multicenter, randomized, investigator-masked, parallel group trial involving patients with moderate to moderately severe acne vulgaris, receiving either lymecycline or minocycline for 12 weeks. Efficacy and safety evaluation was performed at baseline and at weeks 4, 8, and 12 and completed by a pharmacoeconomic analysis including week 12 data.

Objective: Our purpose was to assess the nature and extent of the social and psychologic difficulties associated with vitiligo using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.
Methods: Six hundred fourteen members of the U.

Finlay and Khan have recently suggested that the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) can be used to measure the effects of dermatological conditions on the quality of patients' lives. The aims of this study were to assess its applicability in a nonclinic sample of vitiligo sufferers and to measure its relationship with questionnaires designed to measure a variety of psychological and demographic factors. The DLQI was completed by 614 members of the Vitiligo Society in a postal survey.

Nerve fibres immunoreactive to antibodies to vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) and substance P (SP) were increased in lesional psoriatic skin when assessed semiquantitatively. Biopsies from psoriatic plaques on the arm were studied in 13 patients and compared with biopsies from non-lesional areas (in three of the same psoriatic subjects) and from normal skin in seven non-psoriatic controls. Immunohistochemical methods were used on cryocut skin sections to demonstrate the neuropeptides SP, VIP, calcitonin gene-related peptide and neuropeptide Y, and the general neuronal marker protein gene product (PGP) 9.

When patients in the three groups were matched for age, those with psoriasis were more likely to report that the experience of stress pre-dated the onset and exacerbations of their condition than patients with other skin diseases. For the psoriasis patients the most common types of life events were family upsets (such as bereavements), and work or school demands, but chronic difficulties were also common.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between disease severity, personal distress and disability.
Methods: Twenty-two patients provided a self-rating of disease severity and completed the Psoriasis Disability Index (PDI) and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ).
Clinicians have become increasingly aware of the important effects of psoriasis on patients' quality of life. As a result, several measures of the disabilities and handicaps associated with psoriasis have been developed. The Psoriasis Disability Index (PDI) has been shown to be sensitive to changes in the extent of lesions and to co-vary with the Sickness Impact Profile, a more general measure of the effects of disease on quality of life.
