An 11-year-old girl with quiescent ulcerative colitis had sustained elevation of liver enzymes. Although she had no clinical symptoms suggestive of Wilson's disease, such as Kayser-Fleischer rings, laboratory data showed decreased serum copper and ceruloplasmin levels and increased urinary copper excretion. Genetic testing showed pathogenic variants in allele 1: c.

At a sufficiently low temperature, there are known to be two kinetic roughening points as the driving force for crystal growth increases. At a low driving force , there is the Karder-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) roughening transition point.

Symptomatic cerebral vasospasm following the resection of an intracranial epidermoid cyst is a rare but serious complication that lacks a consensus on treatment. Case presentation: A 10-year-old girl underwent an uneventful complete resection of a left cerebellopontine angle epidermoid cyst.

However, it has not been fairly successful to identify vulnerable plaque to rupture using conventional parameters of intravascular imaging modalities. Fractal analysis is one of the mathematical models to examine geometrical features of picture image using a specific parameter called as fractal dimension (FD) which suggests geometric complexity of the image.

We conducted a cross-sectional study of pediatric patients, ranging from 0 to 15 years old, evaluated for head trauma with negative computed tomography (CT) findings. The cranial vault asymmetry index (CVAI) was calculated using CT images at the superior orbital rim.

To obtain sufficient posterior fossa decompression without cerebrospinal fluid-related complications, we developed a novel duraplasty technique using a combination of a pedicled dural flap and collagen matrix. The objective of this study was to describe the operative nuances of duraplasty using a combination of a pedicled dural flap and collagen matrix in posterior fossa decompression for pediatric CM-1.

Few studies have focused on the clinical question of whether patients with DFP can be expected to have the same long-term prognosis in terms of facial nerve function as those without DFP based on their facial nerve function immediately postoperatively. This study aimed to clarify the clinical impact of DFP on the long-term functional status of the facial nerve after VS resection.

For example, the roughness of the crystal surface affects the frictional and optical properties of materials such as ice or silica. Theoretical studies on crystal surfaces based on the symmetry principle proposed that the growing surfaces of crystal growth could be classified in the universal class of Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ), but experiments rarely observe KPZ properties.

Owing to concerns regarding major vessels, gross total resection (GTR) is difficult to achieve; therefore, subtotal resection and radiation therapy are often chosen as treatment options. We present a pediatric case with an intraparenchymal meningioma in the left basal ganglia that was successfully treated with GTR.

Herein, we present the case of a female patient who was diagnosed with Tolosa-Hunt syndrome at 45 years of age and idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis when she was 48 years. She developed portal hypertension (PH), but did not present with cirrhosis; as such, the cause of PH was not identified.

Material And Methods: This multicenter, retrospective study reviewed the clinical records of children younger than four years with head trauma who had been diagnosed with any findings on head computed tomography (CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Background: Soluble Fas (sFas) plays various roles in carcinogenesis and tumor dissemination by preventing apoptosis via binding to Fas ligand. We analyzed associations of serum sFas levels with the incidence of liver cancer in a prospective case-control study nested in the Japan Collaborative Cohort Study.
Methods: A baseline survey was conducted from 1988, with blood samples obtained from 39,242 subjects.
Objective: The medical history of injury given by parents of infants and toddlers with head trauma may not be accurate or completely true. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between subdural hematoma (SDH) due to nonaccidental injury and mechanisms of injury provided by caregivers.
Methods: Our multicenter study group retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of children younger than 4 years with head trauma who have been diagnosed with any finding on head computed tomography (CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Faceting diagrams between surface slope and temperature are calculated numerically based on statistical mechanics for inclined surfaces between (001) and (111) surfaces at equilibrium. A lattice model is employed that includes point-contact-type step-step attractions from the quantum mechanical couplings between neighbouring steps. Comparing the obtained faceting diagrams with the phase diagram for step bunching proposed by Song and Mochrie for Si(113), the effective step-step attraction energy for Si(113) is approximately estimated to be 123 meV.

We optimized the previously developed in-house HEV antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) by setting the cutoff with an in-house serological performance panel consisting of broad HEV antibody titers and subtracting nonspecific background values for anti-HEV IgM, IgA, and IgG. We also compared the assay's performance with that of commercial serological assay kits (four kits for IgM, one for IgA, and two for IgG).

Despite the unknown etiology of RS3PE, several reports have described the putative association of this disease with malignant tumors. We herein report the findings of a 76-year-old man with RS3PE syndrome who developed hepatocellular carcinoma 3 years after achieving clinical remission of RS3PE using corticosteroid treatment; high vascular endothelial growth factor and tumor necrosis factor-alpha levels were considered to have contributed to carcinogenesis in this patient.

We investigated a positive pattern recognition system for the evaluation of nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and the stages of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Immunotherapy using anti-programmed death 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) antibodies has shown clinical efficacy against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is recognized as the first-line treatment for unresectable HCC. PD-L1 expression is affected by various cytokines produced by immune cells in the tumor microenvironment; however, there is limited information about the effects of cytokine interactions on PD-L1 expression. In this study, we examined how cytokines induce PD-L1 expression in HCC cells.

Case Report And Technique: We report a 6-month-old girl with a lumbosacral lipomyelomeningocele and accessory lower limb who developed a refractory cerebrospinal fluid leak and pseudomeningocele after lipomyelomeningocele repair and removal of the accessory limb. The pseudomeningocele was successfully repaired using a reversed dermis flap made from excess skin that covered the meningocele.
