Investigating the potential of novel data mining algorithms (DMAs) for modeling groundwater quality in coastal areas is an important requirement for groundwater resource management, especially in the coastal region of Bangladesh where groundwater is highly contaminated. In this work, the applicability of DMA, including Gaussian Process Regression (GPR), Bayesian Ridge Regression (BRR) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN), for predicting groundwater quality in coastal areas was investigated. The optuna-based optimized hyperparameter is proposed to improve the accuracy of the models, including optuna-GPR and optuna-BRR as benchmark models.

Adolescent girls of reproductive age who actively seek information on maternal health often tend to have better health-seeking behaviors and maternal health outcomes. Due to scant research on reproductive aged adolescent girls' maternal health information seeking behavior in slum, in connection with social norms, we aimed for this particular study. Adopting an explorative qualitative research approach, we collected data from purposively selected married and unmarried adolescent girls aged 15-19 of different occupation by implying 12 in-depth interviews (IDIs), 2 focus group discussions (FGDs) with the same categories employed for IDIs, and 2 key informant interviews (KIIs) with a traditional birth attendant and a drug seller.

At least two of the six methionine (Met) residues in dehaloperoxidase (DHP) are shown to act as electron donors in both autoreduction and protein-heme crosslinking. Autoreduction observed in the two isozymes, DHP-A and DHP-B, is explained by the high heme reduction potential and an endogenous source of electrons from methionine (Met) or cysteine (Cys). This study provides evidence of a connection to protein-heme crosslinking that occurs when DHP is activated by HO in competition with substrate oxidation and autoreduction.

The enzyme dehaloperoxidase (DHP) found in the marine worm Amphitrite ornata is capable of enzymatic peroxidation of 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP) and 2,4-dibromophenol (DBP). There is also at least one parallel oxidative pathway and the major products 2-chloro-1,4-benzoquinone (2-ClQ) and 2-bromo-1,4-benzoquinone (2-BrQ) undergo aspontaneous secondary hydroxylation reaction. This review discusses receptor-binding domain (RBD) mutations related to the emergence of various SARS-CoV-2 variants, which have been highlighted as a major cause of repetitive clinical waves of COVID-19. Our perusal of the literature reveals that most variants were able to escape neutralizing antibodies developed after immunization or natural exposure, pointing to the need for a sustainable technological solution to overcome this crisis. This review, therefore, focuses on nanotechnology and the development of antiviral nanomaterials with physical antagonistic features of viral replication checkpoints as such a solution.
