Alterations of cardiometabolic risk profile in polycystic ovary syndrome: 13 years follow-up in an unselected population.

Purpose: Cardiometabolic risk factors are common in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) during reproductive years. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of aging on cardiometabolic risk of the syndrome by examining women who had previously been diagnosed to have PCOS or to be healthy in an unselected population in 2009.

Participants: Forty-one women with PCOS who were diagnosed and phenotyped according to the Rotterdam criteria and 43 age- and body mass index (BMI)-matched healthy women from the same unselected cohort.

We aimed to acquire proper standard curves by modifying the kit protocol in this study.

SuPAR is a novel biomarker showing altered inflammation in many inflammatory diseases. This study aims to investigate the SuPAR level in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, and to evaluate the SuPAR level in active, and remission patients.

In this study, we aimed to assess whether IL-22/IL-22BP axis is altered in PCOS at baseline and in response to short-term oral contraceptive (OC) therapy.

Background: Current studies claim that peptides such as leptin, adiponectin, ghrelin, and nesfatin-1 found in breast milk may be responsible for the growth of infants. Therefore, we aimed to determine the association between breast milk total ghrelin and nesfatin-1 levels and anthropometric measurements of infants who were small for gestational age (SGA).

Methods: 20 SGA and 20 appropriate for gestational age (AGA) infants were enrolled in the study.

Purpose: COVID-19 pandemic has far-reaching psychosocial implications for chronic health conditions. We aimed to investigate whether COVID-19 associated social isolation affects lifestyle and weight control in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Methods: We conducted an online survey involving 232 women with PCOS and 157 healthy controls on weight changes, physical activity, sleep and eating patterns using Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ-18), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF).

Background: Non-dipper blood pressure is defined by less than a 10% reduction in nighttime blood pressure, and it is associated with cardiovascular disease. Inflammation is thought to play a role in the pathogenesis of both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and non-dipper blood pressure pattern, and both diseases are associated with lower quality of life.

Background: In this study, postoperative cardiac functions were observed in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery following preoperative administration of the anti-ischemic drug trimetazidine.

Materials And Methods: The study included a total of 50 CABG patients; 25 were administered with trimetazidine preoperatively and 25 did not receive trimetazidine. A retrospective evaluation was made of the parameters of age, gender, preoperative echocardiography (ECHO) results, cross-clamping durations, postoperative inotropic requirements, and postoperative 4-h troponin-I levels and the groups were compared.

Methods: The experimental study was conducted in the animal laboratory of DokuzEylul University, Turkey, from October to December, 2012, and comprised BALB/c mice whowere divided into four equal groups: three experimental and one control group. All groups except the control group were sensitised and challenged with ovalbumin.

Clinical biochemistry laboratory rejection rates due to various types of preanalytical errors.

Introduction: Preanalytical errors, along the process from the beginning of test requests to the admissions of the specimens to the laboratory, cause the rejection of samples. The aim of this study was to better explain the reasons of rejected samples, regarding to their rates in certain test groups in our laboratory.

Materials And Methods: This preliminary study was designed on the rejected samples in one-year period, based on the rates and types of inappropriateness.
