Effects of acupressure on pain and first mobilisation distance after caesarean section: A double-blind randomised controlled study.

Background: Postoperative pain is one of the most common problems after caesarean section (CS). Pain reduction and effective mobilisation after CS positively affect maternal and infant health.

Aim: This study aimed to determine the effects of acupressure applied to women after CS on pain intensity and first mobilisation distance.

 This article evaluates whether parameters derived from the gallium-68-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen ( Ga-PSMA) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging studies of primary prostate cancer (PCa) lesions were associated with Gleason score (GS), D'Amico risk class, Candiolo nomograms, and the metastatic status of the disease.  We retrospectively evaluated newly diagnosed PCa patients who underwent Ga-PSMA PET/CT before therapy. Age, baseline serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and metastatic status were recorded.

Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (marPOR) is a Suitable Material for the Reconstruction of Orbital Floor Fracture Defects in Human Cadavers.

Purpose: Despite there being different materials for orbital floor reconstruction available today, outcomes are still not satisfying. In recent years, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) has gained popularity in the field of orthopedic surgery due to its good biocompatibility and low infection rate. With its three-dimensional compound structure, it combines high stability and ductility, making it a potential material to be used for orbital floor reconstruction.

Evaluation of predisposing factors in patients with ingrown toenails: a prospective, case-control study.

Ingrown toenails (IGTN) are a prevalent, debilitating nail disorder that occurs when the edge of the nail plate grows abnormally to penetrate the periungual dermis. Multiple risk factors have been identified in the etiology. In this study, we aimed to investigate the risk factors that predispose patients to IGTN.

Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-FDG PET)-derived tumoral and peritumoral radiomic parameters can predict pathological subtype and survival in esophageal carcinoma.

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the importance of the quantitative parameters of the tumoral and peritumoral regions in prediction of pathological subtypes and 1-year survival in patients with esophageal carcinoma.

Materials And Methods: A total of 103 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and adenocarcinoma (AC) and in whom fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) was performed were included in the study. One-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival times of all patients were noted.

The Effect of Laughter Yoga on Vasomotor Symptoms and Sleep Quality in Menopausal Women: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

This experimental study aimed to determine the effects of online laughter yoga on the sleep quality and vasomotor symptoms (VMS) of menopausal women through a prospective, randomized controlled trial. About 36 women who attend the Menopause School were randomized into either the laughter yoga (n = 18) or the control group (n = 18). The laughter yoga group participated in eight online laughter yoga sessions, with two sessions per week for four weeks, whereas the control group did not receive any intervention.

A Classification for Gastric Outlet Obstruction in Childhood: Extending Beyond Infantile Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis.

Background/aims:  Gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) is a rare condition in childhood, with the exception of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS). However, no classification exists from a pediatric gastroenterologist's perspective.

Materials And Methods:  The patients with a diagnosis of GOO between 2009 and 2020 were reviewed retrospectively.

Utility of melatonin on brain injury, synaptic transmission, and energy metabolism in rats with sepsis.

Melatonin is a powerful endogenous antioxidant hormone. Its healing effects on energy balance and neuronal damage associated with oxidative metabolism disorders have been reported in pathologic conditions. We aimed to determinate the utility of melatonin on neuronal damage, synaptic transmission, and energy balance in the brain tissue of rats with sepsis induced with LPS.

The value of PET/CT radiomic texture analysis of primary mass and mediastinal lymph node on survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

Objective: This study was designed to determine the potential prognostic value of radiomic texture analysis and metabolic-volumetric parameters obtained from positron emission tomography (PET) in primary mass and metastatic hilar/mediastinal lymph nodes in stage 2-3 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: Images of patients diagnosed with stage 2-3 NSCLC who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging for staging up to 4 weeks before the start of treatment were evaluated using LIFEx software. Volume of interest (VOI) was generated from the primary tumor and metastatic lymph node separately, and volumetric and textural features were obtained from these VOIs.

Benign transient hyperphosphatasemia in the pediatric population: a single center cohort study.

Objectives: Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) can be increased in a benign condition known as benign-transient hyperphosphatasemia (BTH). We aimed to evaluate the demographic, and clinical characteristics of infants and children with BTH.

Methods: In our retrospective study, infants and children diagnosed with BTH between September 2019 and September 2023 were included.

The role of ischemia-modified albumin, presepsin, delta neutrophil index, and inflammatory markers in diagnosing acute cholecystitis.

Background: The purpose of this study is to determine the significance of markers such as C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, complete blood count parameters, delta neutrophil index, ischemia-modified albumin, presepsin, and oxidative stress indicators, which are associated with inflammation, oxidative stress, and ischemia in the pathology and diagnosis of acute cholecystitis in adults.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with acute cholecystitis in the emergency department and healthy individuals in the control group were included in the study. Routine blood count and biochemistry analyses were performed on the participants.

Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate the contribution of 18Fluorine-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography (18F-FDG PET) radiomic data obtained from both the tumoral and peritumoral area in predicting pathological complete response (pCR) in patients with locally advanced breast cancer receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).

Methods: Female patients with a diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma who received NAC were evaluated retrospectively. The volume of interest (VOI) of the primary tumor (VOI-) was manually segmented, then a voxel-thick VOI was added around VOI- to define the peritumoral area (VOI-).

Comparison of Dynamic Measures in Intraoperative Goal-Directed Fluid Therapy of Patients with Morbid Obesity Undergoing Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy.

Introduction: Obesity increases the risk of morbidity and mortality during surgical procedures. Goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) is a new concept for perioperative fluid management that has been shown to improve patient prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the role of the Pleth Variability Index (PVI), systolic pressure variation (SPV), and pulse pressure variation (PPV) in maintaining tissue perfusion and renal function during GDFT management in patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG).

The effect of yoga practice on pain intensity, menstruation symptoms and quality of life of nursing students with primary dysmenorrhea.

The researchers aimed to determine the effects of yoga on pain severity, menstrual symptoms and quality of life of undergraduate nursing students with primary dysmenorrhea. The 60 female students were divided into intervention ( = 30) and control groups ( = 30) by block randomization. In the study, data were evaluated with the Visual Analog Scale for Pain, the Menstruation Symptom Scale and the Short Form-36 Health Survey Scale.

Background: Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor with extremely poor prognosis, highlighting an urgent need for developing novel treatment options. Identifying epigenetic vulnerabilities of cancer cells can provide excellent therapeutic intervention points for various types of cancers.

Method: In this study, we investigated epigenetic regulators of glioblastoma cell survival through CRISPR/Cas9 based genetic ablation screens using a customized sgRNA library EpiDoKOL, which targets critical functional domains of chromatin modifiers.

A different perspective on PET/CT before treatment in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma: importance of volumetric and dissemination parameters.

The aim of this study is to investigate the role of the combination of volumetric and dissemination parameters obtained from pretreatment 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) in predicting the interim response and progression status in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Pretreatment PET/CT images of HL patients were analyzed with LIFEx software, and volumes of interest (VOIs) were drawn with a fixed SUV 4.0 threshold.

The Effect of Lavandula stoechas on Wound Healing in an Experimental Diabetes Model.

Introduction: Diabetic foot is a consequential and dangerous complication of diabetes, contributing to decreased quality of life, escalated hospitalizations, and increased mortality rates. Using an experimental model of diabetes, this study aims to investigate the effect of Lavandula stoechas on wound healing.

Methods: A total of 35 albino Wistar rats, 250-350 grams in weight, were used.

Introduction: Reactive granulomatous dermatitis (RGD) is a new entity, which is highly associated with systemic disorders. There is scarce data regarding interstitial granulomatous dermatitis (IGD) and palisaded neutrophilic granulomatous dermatitis (PNGD).

Objectives: We aimed to evaluate clinical and histopathological characteristics of IGD and PNGD as unified entities under the term of RGD.

Variants in Turkish Patients with Congenital Glucose-Galactose Malabsorption.

Congenital glucose-galactose malabsorption is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in encoding the apical sodium/glucose cotransporter SGLT1. We present clinical and molecular data from eleven affected individuals with congenital glucose-galactose malabsorption from four unrelated, consanguineous Turkish families. Early recognition and timely management by eliminating glucose and galactose from the diet are fundamental for affected individuals to survive and develop normally.
