Endoscopic therapy of stoma closure site strictures in ileal pouches is safe and effective.

Background: Strictures are a common complication after ileal pouch surgery with the most common locations being at the anastomosis, pouch inlet, and stoma closure site. No previous literature has described endoscopic therapy of stoma site stricture. This study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of endoscopic therapy in the treatment of stoma closure site strictures.

Ethnic Disparities in Ileal Pouch Anal Anastomosis Outcomes: An ACS-NSQIP Study.

Introduction: Ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) has become the gold standard operation performed for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) who require colectomy for medically refractory disease or colitis-associated neoplasia. This study aims to evaluate whether differences in surgical outcomes following IPAA creation is associated with minority ethnicity using data from the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS-NSQIP) surgical outcomes database.

Methods: The ACS-NSQIP proctectomy-targeted data files (2016-2019) were reviewed to identify patients who underwent an IPAA creation (Current Procedural Terminology codes: 44157, 44158, 44211, and 45113).

Update of endoscopic management of Crohn's disease strictures.

One of the most common complications of Crohn's disease (CD) is the formation of strictures. Endoscopy plays a vital role not only in the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and disease monitoring of CD, but also the delivery of effective treatment. The purpose of this review is to update the endoscopic management of strictures in CD.
