Unlabelled: Circulating serum miRNA are increasingly used as biomarkers and potential treatment targets in several clinical scenarios, including cardiovascular diseases. However, the current data on circulating miRNA in thoracic aorta aneurism (TAA) patients are inconclusive. The aim of the present study is to compare the levels of several circulating miRNA in patients with degenerative TAA, coronary artery disease (CAD), and controls for special profile identification.

Aim    To identify possible predictors of tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy (TICMP) in patients with newly developed decompensated chronic heart failure (CHF) of nonischemic origin with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LV EF) and with persistent atrial tachyarrhythmias. Material and methods    This study included 88 patients with newly developed decompensated CHF of nonischemic origin with reduced LV EF and persistent atrial tachyarrhythmias. Resting 12-lead electrocardiography (EGC) and transthoracic echocardiography (EchoCG) were performed upon admission and following the electrical impulse therapy for all patients.

Non-coding RNAs reflect many biological processes in the human body, including athero-sclerosis. In a cardiology outpatient department cohort (N = 83), we aimed to compare the levels of circulating microRNAs in groups with vulnerable plaques (N = 22), stable plaques (N = 23) and plaque-free (N = 17) depending on coronary computed tomography angiography and to evaluate associations of microRNA levels with calculated cardiovascular risks (CVR), based on the SCORE2 (+OP), ACC/AHA, ATP-III and MESA scales. Coronary computed tomography was performed on a 640-slice computed tomography scanner.

Extracellular circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) are currently a focus of interest as non-invasive biomarkers of cardiovascular pathologies, including coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute coronary syndromes (ACS): myocardial infarction with and without ST-segment elevation (STEMI and NSTEMI) and unstable angina (UA). However, the current data for some miRNAs are controversial and inconsistent, probably due to pre-analytical and methodological variances in different studies. In this work, we fulfilled the basic pre-analytical requirements provided for circulating miRNA studies for application to stable CAD and ACS research.

The potential of extracellular circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) as non-invasive biomarkers of atrial fibrillation (AF) has been confirmed by a number of recent studies. However, the current data for some miRNAs are controversial and inconsistent, probably due to pre-analytical and methodological differences. In this work, we attempted to fulfill the basic pre-analytical requirements provided for circulating miRNA studies for application to paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) research.

mTOR, the mammalian target of rapamycin, integrates growth factor and nutrient signals to promote a transformation from catabolic to anabolic metabolism, cell growth, and cell cycle progression. Phosphatidic acid (PA) interacts with the FK506-binding protein-12-rapamycin-binding (FRB) domain of mTOR, which stabilizes both mTOR complexes: mTORC1 and mTORC2. We report here that mTORC1 and mTORC2 are activated in response to exogenously supplied fatty acids via the synthesis of PA, a central metabolite for membrane phospholipid biosynthesis.

Features of dynamics of arterial hypertension and rhythm disorders within 3 years after the termination of alcohol intake were studied. The study included 260 patients with alcoholic dependence at the age from 22 to 74 years (mean age 46±6.6 years).

Features and variants of cardiovascular pathology among patients with alcohol addiction were analyzed in 251 patients with II-III degrees of alcohol addiction during 3 years. Treatment and compliancy of patients were taken into account. Based on the results of the primary clinical and instrumental examination, patients were divided into two groups depending on the presence (181 patients) or the absence (70 patients) of cardiovascular pathology.

Aim: To study clinical, biochemical features, course of combined viral hepatitides, dominant viral activity in combination HBV/HCV infection.

Material And Methods: A total of 37 patients with HbsAg and anti-HCV, 23 patients with chronic hepatitis C and 48 patients with chronic hepatitis B were examined (the study and comparison groups, respectively). 67 HbsAg carriers with normal, hepatic parameters (no clinical symptoms, normal transaminase activity) served controls.

Optical and dosimetric properties of a new radiophotoluminescent material based on aluminum oxide doped with carbon and magnesium (Al2O3:C,Mg) and having aggregate oxygen vacancy defects are presented. The Al2O3:C,Mg crystals are characterized by several new optical absorption and emission bands. It is suggested that the main optical properties of this material are due to the formation of aggregate defects composed of two oxygen vacancies and two Mg-impurity atoms.

This paper examines the effect of high-dose irradiation on the optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) of Al2O3:C, principally on the shape of the OSL decay curve and on the OSL sensitivity. The effect of the degree of deep trap filling on the OSL was also studied by monitoring the sensitivity changes after doses of beta irradiation and after step-annealing of samples previously irradiated with high doses. The OSL response to dose shows a linear-supralinear-saturation behavior, with a decrease in the response for doses higher than those required for saturation.

Personality disorders (PD) are recognized among key maladaptive factors in postoperative period of coronary artery bypass surgery (CABS). However studies on PD among CABS patients are predominantly under psychological approach and information on clinical features is very limited. A present investigation aimed at assessing clinical features and prognostic value of PD in late post operative period of CABS (from 1 to 3 years).

Two types of vulnerability of coronary vessels damaged by atherosclerosis were proposed basing on results of a study of 94 patients with psychosomatic reactions accompanied with ischemia or myocardial infarction. First variant (35 patients) was characterized by stable course of the disease (high effort angina without coronary catastrophes, episodes of unstable angina, etc.) and selective sensitivity to definite key affect of high personal value.

Aim: To study efficacy and safety of nebivolol in patients with stable angina pectoris.

Material: Twenty patients with stable effort angina pectoris and positive exercise test without contraindications to beta-blockers, signs of NYHA class III-IV heart failure, and obstructive lung disease. After 5-7 days of control period all patients were given nebivolol (starting dose 5 mg/day) for 8 weeks.

Al2O3:C single crystals are known to exhibit some variation of their thermoluminescence (TL) glow curve shape from sample to sample. This variation is attributed to the fact that the TL peak in Al2O3:C is produced by the set of several traps. It is important to understand what part of the trap distribution correlates with the optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) process in this material.

Aim: To study ednit (ACE inhibitor) effectiveness in the treatment of portal hypertension in patients with chronic hepatitis (CH) and hepatic cirrhosis (HC).

Material And Methods: The examination of 87 patients with active CH and 54 patients with HC at the preascytic stage included two-dimentional ultrasonic scanning of the abdominal organs with doppler fluometry of the vessels in the territory of the portal vein, tetrapolar rheohepatography, ultrasound investigation, angiography of the abdominal vessels. The patients received combined therapy with ednit in a dose 5 mg twice a day for at least 5 weeks.
