Objective: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised studies in humans comparing the outcomes of switching to heated tobacco products (HTPs) versus continuing conventional tobacco smoking by burning.
Methods: We searched the electronic databases which included PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Controlled Trials Register, and Google Scholar from inception to May 2023. Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) in humans comparing HTPs with conventional burnt tobacco products were selected.
The (citrus) plant produces various phytohormones due to the significant involvement of the carotenoid cleavage oxygenase () gene family in its growth and development. genes can be divided into two main categories: (9-cis-epoxy carotenoid dioxygenase), responsible for abscisic acid (ABA) production, and (carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase), involved in pigment and strigolactone formation. To better understand the roles and positions of gene members in relation to these hormones, researchers analyzed the clementine genome.

Despite this, IPE interventions are not employed globally and the use of such interventions is variable. Additionally, there is an ongoing debate over how and when to employ IPE interventions.

In Pakistan, a country with a population of 240 million, the world's fifth largest, dengue has emerged as an escalating public health crisis, with seasonal outbreaks severely straining the healthcare system. Despite decades of vector control efforts, there has not been much success, necessitating the introduction of dengue vaccination to boost population immunity.

Maternal reproductive history is associated with differential risk of pregnancy complications. The molecular phenotypes and roles of these distinct monocyte/macrophage populations and the influence of gravidity on these phenotypes has not been systematically investigated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAnaerobic digestion (AD) has been proven to be an effective green technology for producing biomethane while reducing environmental pollution. The interspecies electron transfer (IET) processes in AD are critical for acetogenesis and methanogenesis, and these IET processes are carried out via mediated interspecies electron transfer (MIET) and direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET). The latter has recently become a topic of significant interest, considering its potential to allow diffusion-free electron transfer during the AD process steps.

Methods: Following the approval of the National Bioethics Committee and prospective registration (clinicaltrials.gov NCT04338698), a multicenter randomized clinical trial of adaptive design was conducted at 10 multispecialty hospitals in Pakistan.
Rubber band constriction syndrome has been described in the literature, although there are very few case reports. Non-healing recurrent tenosynovitis and synovitis of the wrist joint demonstrating a circular rubber band on imaging has not been described before. Imaging studies showed retained circular band deep to the extensor tendons, embedded within the joint capsule.

ID is characterized by limitations in a person's intellectual and adaptive functioning, and is caused by pathogenic variants in more than 1000 genes.

Biodesulfurization is a promising and eco-friendly method to desulfurize a wide range of thiophenic compounds present in fuel oil. Previously, numerous bacterial strains from genera such as Rhodococcus, Corynebacterium, Gordonia, Nocardia, Mycobacterium, Mycolicibacterium, Paenibacillus, Shewanella, Sphingomonas, Halothiobacillus, and Bacillus have been reported to be capable of desulfurizing model thiophenic compounds or fossil fuels.

However, current models remain limited in their ability to incorporate tunable biomechanical signaling cues imparted by the extracellular matrix (ECM). The native brain ECM is viscoelastic and stress-relaxing, exhibiting a time-dependent response to an applied force.

Little is known regarding the molecular phenotypes and roles of these distinct monocyte/macrophage populations. Here, we used RNA sequencing to investigate the transcriptional profiles of MIMs and HBCs in six normal term pregnancies.

A 50:50 mixture of propylene glycol (PG) and water is used as a heat transfer fluid because of its tremendous anti-freezing properties, and nontoxicity and it is safe to be utilized at the domestic level. Titanium dioxide (titania) nanoparticles are suspended in the working fluid to enhance its heat transfer ability.

We evaluated the short-, medium- and long-term outcomes of lung function and quality of life in this prospective cohort study and reported the outcomes at 7 weeks and 3 months from discharge from intensive care unit.
Methods: A prospective cohort study of ICU survivors with COVID-19 was conducted from August 2020 to May 2021 to evaluate baseline demographic and clinical variables as well as determine lung function, exercise capacity, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) using spirometry and 6-minute walk test (6MWT) conducted in accordance with American Thoracic Society standards, and SF-36 (Rand), respectively.
Non-Hermitian systems with parity-time [Formula: see text] symmetry and anti-parity-time [Formula: see text] symmetry have exceptional points (EPs) resulting from eigenvector co-coalescence with exceptional properties. In the quantum and classical domains, higher-order EPs for [Formula: see text] symmetry and [Formula: see text]-symmetry systems have been proposed and realized. Both two-qubits [Formula: see text]-[Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]-[Formula: see text] symmetric systems have seen an increase in recent years, especially in the dynamics of quantum entanglement.
