We report the perioperative management of a 32-year-old woman with super-morbid obesity (body mass index (BMI) of 60.9 kilograms per meter squared (kg/m)) who underwent a robotic-assisted total laparoscopic hysterectomy in a hospital that was not specialized for obese patients. She successfully reduced her BMI by 10% using dietary restrictions in five weeks, and her surgery was performed two weeks later by consultation between gynecologists and anesthesiologists.

Radiation-associated angiosarcoma (RAAS) is a type of radiation-associated sarcoma (RAS) that develops at the previous field of radiation in breast cancer patients. Although several reports have suggested a poor prognosis for RAAS, the 5-year overall survival of RAAS is better than that of cutaneous angiosarcoma (CAS), suggesting that the prognostic factors of RAAS and CAS might be different, at least in part. Since the efficacy of ipilimumab on nivolumab-resistant advanced melanoma is extremely low, additional supportive therapy for anti-PD-1 antibody therapy-resistant advanced melanoma is needed. Both long-term administration of immunosuppressive agents and chronic inflammatory conditions, such as autoimmune disease, could be risk factors for the development of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). In this report, we present a case of recurrent multiple cSCC on the scalp in a patient with juvenile dermatomyositis who had been administered cyclosporine and Predonine since she was a 1-year-old infant. Interestingly, immunohistochemical staining revealed IL-17-producing cells adjacent to IL-17R-expressing atypical keratinocytes.

Primary cutaneous apocrine carcinoma (PCAC) is a rare and highly aggressive cutaneous adnexal type of tumor that has a high metastasis rate and a poor prognosis. Although there are several case reports describing the successful treatment of PCAC with chemoradiotherapy or molecular targeting therapy, no standard therapy for the treatment of advanced PCAC has been established yet. Since receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL) is expressed in cancers of apocrine origin, leading to immunosuppression at the tumor site, we hypothesized that targeting RANKL with denosumab might be useful for the treatment of PCAC.

Because the efficacy rates of monotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors such as nivolumab or ipilimumab are not sufficient, to enhance the antitumor effects of these reagents is of great interest among dermato-oncologists. In this report, we describe two cases of multiple in-transit metastatic melanomas on the leg successfully treated with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) using a CyberKnife in combination with ipilimumab or nivolumab. Our cases suggested that IMRT could enhance the antitumor effects of immune checkpoint inhibitors in patients with multiple in-transit melanomas.

We describe a case of basosquamous cell carcinoma arising from a 52-year-old Japanese renal transplantation recipient (RTR). In the present case, we investigated the immunohistochemical profiles of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, focusing on cytotoxic granules, granulysin-bearing cells and immunosuppressive cells, such as regulatory T cells and tumor-associated macrophages. We describe the case of a 69-year-old Japanese patient with spontaneous regression of trichilemmal carcinoma. We investigated the immunohistochemical profiles of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, focusing on cytotoxic granules, granulysin-bearing cells and immunosuppressive cells, such as regulatory T cells and tumor-associated macrophages. The tail suspension test (TST) is widely recognized as a useful experimental paradigm for assessing antidepressant activity and depression-like behavior. We have previously identified ubiquitin-specific peptidase 46 (Usp46) as a quantitative trait gene responsible for decreasing immobility time in the TST in mice. Because of the presence of sperm-storage tubules (SST) in the utero-vaginal junction (UVJ) in the oviduct, once ejaculated sperm have entered the female reproductive tract, they can survive for a prolonged time in domestic birds, although the specific mechanisms involved in the sperm uptake into, maintenance within, and controlled release from the SST remain to be elucidated. In this report, we provide evidence that progesterone triggers the release of the resident sperm from the SST in the UVJ. The ultrastructural observation of the SST indicated that the resident sperm are released from the SST around 20 h after oviposition.
