The goal is to ensure that everyone has equal access to quality healthcare services irrespective of age, gender, or socio-economic status. However, most countries in sub-Saharan Africa struggle to meet this goal, due to several challenges, including poverty, poor infrastructure, and gender-bias.

We have shown that some animal species expressed genes that are significant players in immune response to bovine trypanosomosis, impeding signs and symptoms of the disease. We hypothesize that such animals are contributors to disease transmission dynamics and severe outcomes.

High-throughput DNA metabarcoding was used to compare microbial compositions in raw milk among the three species. Although the three species had similar dominant bacterial (Firmicutes and Proteobacteria) and yeast (Ascomycota and Basidiomycota) phyla, their microbial compositions at the genus level were noticeably different.

genes are an evolutionarily conserved family of transcription factors that play important roles in cellular differentiation and numerous complex developmental processes. In vertebrates, proteins are required for cell fate decisions, morphogenesis, and the control of self-renewal in embryonic and adult stem cells. The gene family has been well-studied in multiple species including humans but there has been scanty or no research into Bovidae.

The frequent mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has rendered disease control with vaccines and antiviral drugs quite challenging, with newer variants surfacing constantly. There is therefore the need for newer, effective and efficacious drugs against coronaviruses.

Wastewater is only one of environmental compartments that requires consideration. In this manuscript, we have critically evaluated the knowledge-base and preparedness for building early warning systems in a rapidly urbanising world, with particular attention to Africa, which experiences rapid population growth and urbanisation.

Twenty-six mycotoxins and 121 other microbial and plant metabolites were quantified by LC-MS/MS in 250 samples of cereals, nuts and legumes. Aflatoxins were detected in all food types (cowpea, maize, peanut and sorghum) except in millet.

This can be achieved by the application of appropriate geophysical or geotechnical methods in association with a detailed information on the geological sequence of the subsurface structure. In this study, a combination of near surface seismic refraction method, cone penetration test and borehole logs were used to obtain 2-dimensional (2D) information of the subsurface geological features.

Dairy products contain several microorganisms, their metabolites, and other chemical compounds, some with health benefits and many others considered as potential health hazards. Consumption of contaminated milk products could have serious health implications for consumers.

Its exploration requires special skill for optimum exploitation. Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM)and Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) were used to detectthe stratigraphy and subsurface structures controlling the groundwater system around Iju - Ota, Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria.

But, some community pharmacists reported that points of failures of MAS have negatively impacted their practices.
Objectives: The objectives of this study were (1) to assess the acceptance of MAS by community pharmacists; (2) to explore the views of MAS providers on the challenges and successes of MAS deployment in Nigeria.
Datasets contained in this article are noise level measurement carried out at 41 different locations in Ota metropolis, Nigeria. The noise readings were measured at a time interval of 30 min for each site considered using a precision grade sound level meter. The analysis was based on the noise descriptors L, L, L, L, TNI and NEI.

The general anthropoenic pollution from Sahara desert, fossil-fuel engines and bush-burning needs to be reduced to avoid natural accidents, regional climate change etc. A fifteen years dataset was obtained from the Multi-angle Imaging Spectro-Radiometer (MISR).

Methods: Overall, 749 cockroaches (, 509, , 240) caught by trapping from 120 households comprising 3 different housing types in Somolu, Lagos metropolis, southwest Nigeria, in 2015 were screened for human intestinal parasites using standard parasitological techniques.
Hematuria is a common finding in renal cell carcinoma, and persistent hematuria, even in those receiving anticoagulation, warrants workup. We present a case of a patient with persistent hematuria who was found to have a renal mass that was not evident on renal ultrasound and computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis but was seen on magnetic resonance imaging.

The total lead levels of 252 indigenously processed smoked fish foods exposed to the highways were determined via atomic absorption spectrometry. Metal content was monitored at various periods of the day. A fraction of the sample population was investigated for the effect of atmospheric exposure while the remaining portion was examined for the impact of processing technique on the fish metal levels.
