Preoperative quality of life of patients with cleft lip and palate in Nigeria: a multicentre cross-sectional pilot study.

Introduction: the objective of this study was to determine the quality of life (QoL) of the patient with a cleft lip or palate scheduled for surgery.

Methods: this analytic multicenter cross-sectional study involved six participating Smile Train Partner Hospitals from five geopolitical zones of the country and three major ethnic groups. Patients with cleft lip or cleft palate aged between 8 to 29 years scheduled for repair were recruited.

Multicenter Pattern of Cleft Surgeries and Factors Associated with Late Primary Cleft Surgery in Nigeria.

Background: This study aimed to analyze multicenter patterns in cleft deformity surgeries and identify factors associated with the timing of primary cleft repair in Nigeria.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of children managed for clefts from January 2009 to December 2020 at three Smile Train partner tertiary institutions situated in the east (Enugu), west (Ibadan), and northern (Jos) parts of the country using a prospectively collected database. Outcomes were the types of surgery performed, yearly volume of surgeries, methods of repair, and time of surgery (early versus late).

Reduction Mammoplasty for Macromastia: Our Experience Using the Inferior Pedicle with Inverted-T Skin Resection.

Introduction: Macromastia is a major reason why women seek for breast reduction especially when there are symptoms. Breast reduction is an uncommon procedure in our environment and this is a report of our experience with inferior pedicle with an inverted-T skin resection.

Materials And Methods: This is a report of breast reductions using the inferior pedicle with an inverted-T skin resection approach that were carried out between 2004 and 2022.

Neonatal Burn Injuries Managed in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a Tertiary Hospital in North-Central Nigeria.

Introduction: Neonatal burn injuries are rare in clinical practice. This explains the many case reports of such injuries. This is a report of our experience in the management of neonatal burn injuries in our centre.

Isolated Ankyloblepharon Filiforme Adnatum: A Case Report.

Ankyloblepharon filiforme adnatum (AFA) is a rare congenital anomaly consisting of partial or complete adhesion of the upper and lower eyelids, and it can be an isolated finding, or associated with other multisystemic anomalies. Its presence should alert the neonatologist of the need for a detailed systemic evaluation. We present a twenty day old baby who presented to our facility on the 8th of August 2019, with bilateral adhesions of the upper and lower eyelids, and had them excised with the use of McPherson's forceps and Vannas scissors, with no sedation or anesthesia.
