Purpose: To assess the impact of the relationship between renal pedicles and tumors on surgical outcomes in patients with non-high-risk abdominal neuroblastoma.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed cases of neuroblastoma without metastasis treated at our hospital between March 2002 and December 2023. Cases in which surgical resection was performed were divided into three groups according to imaging findings at the time of diagnosis and before surgery: Group E (tumor encasing renal pedicles), Group C (tumor in contact with renal pedicles), and Group S (tumor separated from renal pedicles).

Lacticaseibacillus paracasei Bacteremia Associated With Probiotic Use in a Child With Hypoganglionosis: Case Report and Literature Review.

Probiotics are generally considered safe and used to improve intestinal function. Here, we report a Lacticaseibacillus paracasei bacteremia case in an 8-month-old girl administered probiotics containing L. paracasei after jejunostomy for hypoganglionosis.

Postoperative pulmonary vascular growth in patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

Background: Postoperative pulmonary growth in congenital diaphragmatic hernias (CDH) remains unclear. We investigated postoperative pulmonary vascular growth using serial lung perfusion scintigraphy in patients with CDH.

Methods: Neonates with left CDH who underwent surgery and postoperative lung perfusion scintigraphy at our institution between 2001 and 2020 were included.

A case of acquired hemophilia A after pancreaticoduodenectomy for distal cholangiocarcinoma.

Acquired hemophilia A (AHA) is a rare disease that results from factor VIII inhibitors causing abnormal coagulation, and certain cases may develop after highly invasive surgery. The present case study reports on a 68-year-old male patient who developed AHA after undergoing a subtotal stomach-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy for distal cholangiocarcinoma. The patient experienced complications after surgery, requiring reoperation on postoperative day (PD) 5 due to rupture of the Braun's enterostomy.

Surgery for acute abdomen in adult patients with severe motor and intellectual disabilities.

Purpose: The present study aimed to examine the characteristics, outcomes, and problems related to surgery for acute abdomen in adult patients with severe motor and intellectual disabilities (MID).

Methods: The clinical records of 35 adult patients with severe MID who received emergency surgery for acute abdomen between 2011 and 2020 were reviewed.

Results: The median duration from onset to surgery was 48 hours.
