Purpose: Social media has become the new information acquisition platform for all content producers. In the current literature, there are no studies examining the content quality and the strengths and weaknesses of videos on Instagram that explain anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, which is the most discussed topic of sports surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality, strengths and weaknesses of information pertaining to ACL surgery that is disseminated on Instagram.

Background: High self-renewal capacity and most permissive nature of umbilical cord blood (CB) results with successful transplant outcomes but low hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) counts limits wider use. In order to overcome this problem ex vivo expansion with small molecules such as Valproic acid (VPA) or Nicotinamide (NAM) have been shown to be effective. To the best of our knowledge, the combinatory effects of VPA and NAM on HSPC expansion has not been studied earlier.

Recent advances in machine learning have leveraged evolutionary information in multiple sequence alignments to predict protein structure. We demonstrate direct inference of full atomic-level protein structure from primary sequence using a large language model. As language models of protein sequences are scaled up to 15 billion parameters, an atomic-resolution picture of protein structure emerges in the learned representations.

Background: Natural killer (NK) cells are known to have cytotoxic effects mediated through killer immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) and their cognate ligands. Role of KIRs in myeloma is yet unresolved.

Patients And Methods: KIR genotypes and ligands of 204 newly diagnosed MM patients are compared with 424 healthy subjects.

Background: Myotonic dystrophy type 1(MD1), which is characterized by decreased muscle tone, progressive muscle weakness, and cardiac involvement, is an autosomal dominant and progressive congenital muscle disease. Cardiac involvement more often manifests as conduction abnormalities and arrhythmias (such as supraventricular or ventricular). Approximately one-third of MD1-related deaths occur due to cardiac causes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of miRNA and cytokines in tuberculosis (TB), focusing on their potential as biomarkers for distinguishing between healthy individuals and TB patients, as well as their association with treatment response and bacterial genotypes.
  • It includes 200 participants, divided into active TB, latent TB, and healthy controls, to analyze miRNA and cytokine expression levels at different stages of the disease.
  • Results indicate a significant decrease in specific miRNAs and cytokines in pulmonary TB patients compared to healthy controls, but no significant relationship was found between the clinical course of the disease, cytokine and miRNA expression, and the bacterial genotypes.

Objective: Many methods are used in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which causes acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and there are conflicting reports in the literature regarding the results of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy, which is one of those methods. The aim of our study is to evaluate the effect of MSC treatment applied together with standard treatments on survival.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective case-control study evaluates the survival effect of MSC treatment administered to patients treated in intensive care after the development of ARDS due to COVID-19 between March 2020 and March 2021.

Background: Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction Frame Count (TFC) is an index that provides a quantitative evaluation of coronary microvascular dysfunction. In this study, we aimed to examine the effect of COVID-19 infection on TFC in patients admitted with chest pain and dyspnoea after COVID-19 disease and had abnormal findings in myocardial perfusion scintigraphy.

Methods: For this single-center retrospective study, patients with and without a history of COVID-19 who were underwent coronary angiography for abnormal findings in myocardial perfusion scintigraphy between January 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021 were analysed.
