The objective of this study was to explore the feature of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in asking sexual health among cancer survivors, which are often challenging for patients to discuss. We employed the Generative Pre-trained Transformer-3.5 (GPT) as the generative AI platform and used DocsBot for citation retrieval (June 2023).

Purpose: Although exercise is recommended for cancer survivors with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), the effective types of exercise for preventing and treating CIPN remain unclear. This systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA) aimed to evaluate the comparative effects of exercise on CIPN.

Methods: We included relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) identified in a 2019 systematic review that evaluated the effects of exercise on CIPN and conducted an additional search for RCTs published until 2023.

Article Synopsis
  • Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common side effect of cancer treatment that affects patients' quality of life, and this study explores limb cooling as a potential solution.
  • The trial randomly assigns breast cancer patients undergoing weekly paclitaxel treatment into two groups: one receiving limb cooling at a strict temperature (13°C) and the other not receiving cooling (25°C).
  • The goal is to determine if limb cooling can reduce the severity of CIPN symptoms, contributing new evidence to its effectiveness and promoting a safe cooling device for clinical use.

Although treatment outcomes for childhood cancer have improved in recent years, some patients continue to experience physical symptoms and psychological stress several years after the end of treatment. This study aimed to examine the correlation between the quality-of-life (QOL) scores of childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) aged 18-39 and (1) their families and (2) the time since the end of treatment. Measuring the QOL of CCSs attending the long-term follow-up (LTFU) and those of their families.

Article Synopsis
  • Cancer survivors increasingly use the Internet to manage their health and daily activities, but their satisfaction with online resources remains unclear.
  • A survey was conducted among 412 cancer survivors, revealing that many experienced anxiety, stress, sleeplessness, and cognitive difficulties, utilizing web content primarily to track health, alleviate anxiety, and manage day-to-day tasks.
  • The study found that survivors were more satisfied with interactive web content, suggesting that incorporating personal experiences and engaging information can enhance the effectiveness of online resources for this group.

Young adult survivors of childhood cancer may have a perception gap with their families. Patients aged 18-39 years after treatment of cancer and their families (28 pairs) completed a survey that contained questions on health-related quality of life using the 36-item short form survey. There was a significant difference in the role-social component score (mean difference -2.

Introduction: Although topical use of moisturisers is slightly effective for the prevention and avoiding the aggravation of hand-foot syndrome induced by multikinase inhibitors, there is still room for improvement. Hydrocolloid dressing is a type of wound dressing often used for wounds such as decubitus ulcers. The purpose of this study is to verify the usefulness of application of hydrocolloid dressings as prophylaxis against development of hand-foot syndrome induced by multikinase inhibitors by comparing the effects of this dressing and standard supportive care (moisturising care alone) within the same individuals.

Article Synopsis
  • * It involved 388 patients and assessed their muscle mass, strength, walking speed, and history of falls and fractures, revealing higher risks of falls and fractures in those with sarcopenia.
  • * Key factors linked to sarcopenia included age, duration of RA, stage of RA, nutritional status, and the use of biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs), with longer disease duration and malnutrition increasing sarcopenia risk.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify factors that affect walking ability in female patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), focusing on key gait parameters like step length, cadence, and gait speed.
  • A cohort of 318 female RA patients was analyzed, revealing that stronger knee extension, the use of methotrexate, and lower disease activity scores were linked to better walking ability.
  • Despite some patients having good Health Assessment Questionnaire scores, 26% exhibited slow gait speed, which was associated with higher disease activity and lower knee strength, indicating a disparity between perceived health and actual mobility.

Research on patient-reported outcomes indicates that constipation is a common adverse effect of chemotherapy, and the use of 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin; 5HT3) receptor antagonists aggravates this condition. As cancer patients take multiple drugs as a part of their clinical management, a non-pharmacological self-management (SM) of constipation would be recommended. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a SM program on antiemetic-induced constipation in cancer patients.
