Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted with 1703 males and 139 female partners in Turkey to measure average penis size and evaluate couples' perspectives on its importance for sexual satisfaction.
  • The findings showed that the average flaccid penis length was 8.44 cm and the average stretched length was 12.27 cm, with girth measuring 8.23 cm; both males and females considered erect length and girth important for sexual pleasure.
  • Despite the participants' beliefs about the significance of penis size, comparisons indicated no major difference between average measurements and ideal lengths, suggesting many men may not need surgery to meet perceived standards.

Proton radiography is a promising development in proton therapy, and researchers are currently exploring optimal detector materials to construct proton radiography detector arrays. High-density glass scintillators may improve integrating-mode proton radiography detectors by increasing spatial resolution and decreasing detector thickness. We evaluated several new scintillators, activated with europium or terbium, with proton response measurements and Monte Carlo simulations, characterizing relative luminosity, ionization quenching, and proton radiograph spatial resolution.

Article Synopsis
  • This study reviews the outcomes of repairing the long head of the biceps tendon alongside rotator cuff repairs, analyzing whether it's better to perform tenodesis in the subpectoral or suprapectoral area.
  • A total of 13 studies were analyzed, revealing similar postoperative scores for both tenodesis locations, but with different complication rates: transient nerve injuries were more common with subpectoral tenodesis, while suprapectoral tenodesis was associated with persistent pain and "Popeye deformity."
  • The findings suggest that both approaches yield similar effectiveness, but the choice of location may influence the type and frequency of complications encountered post-surgery.

Background: Delayed unions are quite common in the treatment of atypical femur fractures, which are thought to result from the long-term use of bisphosphonates. The effects of interventions for sclerotic tissue on the fracture line in atypical femoral fractures are not fully known. For this reason, we compared the results of patients with atypical femoral fractures treated by closed intramedullary nailing to patients treated by open surgery accompanied with interventions for their sclerotic bone ends, aiming to answer: (1) In the treatment of atypical femoral fractures, do bone-end interventions have a positive effect on the radiological union rate and radiological union time? (2) Do bone-end interventions influence complication rates in the treatment of atypical femoral fractures?

Hypothesis: Bone-end interventions provide a faster and higher rate of union compared to closed intramedullary nailing and result in fewer complications in atypical femoral fractures.

Introduction: While repairing a teared rotator cuff tendon with suture anchors and horizontal mattress suture configurations, knots should be secure at time zero while approximating the tendon to the bone, otherwise any failure in loop security may cause undesired clinical results. Optimum distance between suture limbs passed through the tendon, in other words the bite size, is still not clear in the literature. The aim of this study was to test the effect of loop size, which is directly related to the bite size, on loop security and elongation of a knot.
