In addition to traditional risk factors such as unhealthy lifestyles (smoking, obesity, sedentary) and genetics, common environmental exposures, including persistent environmental contaminants, may also influence CVD risk. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a class of highly fluorinated chemicals used in household consumer and industrial products known to persist in our environment for years, causing health concerns that are now linked to endocrine disruptions and related outcomes in women, including interference of the cardiovascular and reproductive systems.

However, China, whose energy consumption relies heavily on fossil resources, remains at the top of the list of global polluters. Therefore, investigating the environmental impacts of energy types is essential to China's path towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-7 and SDG-13.

Methods: This retrospective, case-control study recruited patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) who underwent transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) for LAT detection before cardioversion or catheter ablation at a tertiary hospital between 2012 and 2021.
Background: The development of ultrasonography technology and its widespread application have increased peripheral nerve block applications, especially in limb surgeries, since it reduces complication rates and increases success rates in peripheral nerve block applications. However, even experienced physicians need to direct a large number of needles and injections for adequate local anesthetic spread, which can cause accidental vascular puncture and local anesthetic systemic toxicity. Such complications can be prevented by hydrodissection and a safer and successful anesthesia can be provided to patients in this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of hydrodissection on anesthesia characteristics in the infraclavicular brachial plexus blockade.

Zinc sulfate heptahydrate was used as the precursor, and the reactions were performed at 33 °C for 72 h. The effects of pH 5-9 and precursor concentration (2-10 mM) were determined and the optima were found to be pH 7.

Effects of these pressures on the internal jugular vein (IJV) diameter and flow along with the liver and kidney function tests were evaluated.
Materials And Methods: The patients were divided into two groups with respect to the intraabdominal pressure performed during LSG (either 10 or 13 mmHg).

Extracellular protease production by a novel strain, sp. EBTA6, has been optimized by using central composite design of response surface methodology and properties and industrial applications of crude enzyme have been investigated. Three independent variables (temperature, pH and yeast extract concentration) chosen in the experimental design were significant terms and reduced cubic model fit with the design at < 0.

This study therefore aimed to investigate bleeding risk in patients with ACS who were scheduled to receive dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in Turkey.
Methods: This was a multicentre, observational, cross-sectional cohort study.
Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) are attractive nanomaterials for application in medical diagnosis, because their toxicities are lower than the elemental selenium which is a functional element and essential for human. In the current study, SeNPs synthesis capability of a novel soil originated indigenous Bacillus isolate was investigated. In this context, effects of processing conditions (SeO concentration, pH, temperature, and time), and yeast extract supplementation on the synthesis of SeNPs have been tested.

However, the failure of these mechanisms to work synchronously can lead to morbidity complicating the course of many chronic diseases. We analyzed data of 178 patients from cohorts with selected chronic diseases in this quasi-experimental study.

Background It is known that iron deficiency anemia effects appetite and growth negatively. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of iron therapy on appetite, growth and plasma ghrelin and leptin levels in children aged between 12 and 24 months with isolated nutritional iron deficiency anemia. Methods Iron deficiency anemia was diagnosed by clinic and laboratory findings.

Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using microorganisms is an important application of nanobiotechnology and green chemistry because of interest by pharmaceutical and food manufacturers. In this study, biosynthesis of AgNPs by a novel Bacillus strain isolated from a soil sample from Sakarya district in Turkey was investigated. Biosynthesis was performed using cell-free supernatant of the bacterium following 24 h growth.

Methods: This is a randomized controlled clinical trial. Seventy-five women with FM were randomized into one of three kinds of acupuncture treatment: real acupuncture group (AcG), sham acupuncture group (ShG), and simulated acupuncture group (SiG).
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a health problem of great concern to both the public and medical authorities. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) has been reported to play an important role in both the development and progression of CVD, but studies are underway to determine how LDL exerts its effects. In recent years, it has been found that LDL has several subfractions, each of which affects endothelial function differently; L5, the most electronegative fraction, has been shown to be unique in that it induces an atherogenic response.

Thus, we aimed to investigate a possible relationship between fetuin-A gene polymorphism and the presence of dental calculus. A possible relationship between serum, saliva and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) levels of fetuin-A was also investigated.
