Objectives: Infertility is one of the main stressful events of life and a crisis affecting various dimensions of infertile couples' lives. Relaxation, as a strategy, can be effective in the individuals' resistance to stress and anxiety. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the effect of relaxation on mother's anxiety and maternal-fetal attachment in primiparous women who used In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to get pregnant.

Background Metabolic syndrome (MS) in adolescents is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Objective The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of MS in 14-18-year-old girls. Methods This analytical case-control study was conducted on 3200 high school students with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Effects of oxygen therapy on wall-motion score index in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction-the randomized SOCCER trial.

Background: Although oxygen (O ) is routinely used in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), it may have negative effects. In this substudy of the SOCCER trial, we aimed to evaluate the effects of O -treatment on myocardial function in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Methods: Normoxic (≥94%) STEMI patients were randomized in the ambulance to either supplemental O or room air until the end of the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Background: Dysmenorrhea is one of the common problems during reproductive ages, with prevalence rate of 60-90%. This study aimed to compare the effects of acupressure at Guan yuan (RN-4) and Qu gu (RN-2) acupoints, self-care behaviors training, and ibuprofen on the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea based on McGill pain questionnaire.

Materials And Methods: In the randomized clinical trial, 120 females, aged between 18 and 25 years, with primary dysmenorrhea, randomly selected from five dormitories of Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran were screened and randomized into acupressure group, in that pressure was applied for 20 min over the 1 2 days of menstruation for two cycles.

Is there a relationship between non-obstructive coronary artery disease or cardiac syndrome X and migraine? An integrated multi-disciplinary approach.

Non-obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) which is mostly called cardiac syndrome X (CSX) is noted in about 30% of men and 40%-60% of women and seems to be incremental. In addition, frequent myocardial perfusion defects with various levels of severity are often seen in this disease. Recently, we noticed that the frequency of migraine in patients with CSX was noticeably higher than in healthy people and in CAD patients.

Here, we investigated the role of NF-κB and Notch pathways inhibition on human ovarian cancer OVCAR-3 cells proliferation and IκB-α and Hes-1 expression as 2 key genes in these pathways regulation. The effects of Bay 11-7085 and DAPT, NF-κB and Notch pathways specific inhibitors, on cell proliferation were evaluated using MTT assay.

Comparison of the Effects of Two Auditory Methods by Mother and Fetus on the Results of Non-Stress Test (Baseline Fetal Heart Rate and Number of Accelerations) in Pregnant Women: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: To compare the effects of two auditory methods by mother and fetus on the results of NST in 2011-2012.

Materials And Methods: In this single-blind clinical trial, 213 pregnant women with gestational age of 37-41 weeks who had no pregnancy complications were randomly divided into 3 groups (auditory intervention for mother, auditory intervention for fetus, and control) each containing 71 subjects. In the intervention groups, music was played through the second 10 minutes of NST.

Effects of combination of melatonin and laser irradiation on ovarian cancer cells and endothelial lineage viability.

The main goal of anti-cancer therapeutic approaches is to induce apoptosis in tumor masses but not in the normal tissues. Nevertheless, the combination of photodynamic irradiation with complementary oncostatic agents contributes to better therapeutic performance. Here, we applied two different cell lines; SKOV3 ovarian carcinoma cells and HUVECs umbilical cord cells as in vitro models to pinpoint whether pharmacological concentration of melatonin in combination with photodynamic therapy induces cell cytotoxicity.

Comparison of 180° and 360° Arc Data Acquisition to Measure Scintigraphic Parameters from Gated Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography Myocardial Perfusion Imaging: Is There Any Difference?

Objective: The aim of the current study was to compare 180° and 360° data collection modes to measure end diastolic volume (EDV), end systolic volume (ESV) and ejection fraction (EF) values of the cardiac system by gated myocardial perfusion tomography.

Methods: Thirty-three patients underwent gated myocardial perfusion tomography. Single photon emission computed tomography data of patients' heart were acquired by 180°, 45° left posterior oblique to 45° right anterior oblique, and 360° to obtain EDV, ESV, EF and cardiac volume changes (V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6, V7 and V8) throughout each cardiac cycle.
