Background And Aim: Continuing Medical Education (CME) is crucial for physicians to stay current in the rapidly advancing field of medicine. A WhatsApp (WA) based community of physicians was initiated in 2016 'WhatsApp CME India Group' to facilitate learning, knowledge sharing, and discussion among physicians. Due to participant size constraints of the technology, it evolved into seven distinct WA groups, overseen by a central administrator.

Diabetic patients with chronic kidney disease have a high risk of developing cardiovascular disease-related mortality and morbidity compared to non-diabetic chronic kidney disease patients. The Majority of chronic kidney disease patients with diabetes remain undiagnosed and have a higher incidence of cardiovascular comorbidities even when they do not progress to endstage renal failure. Both traditional cardiovascular risk factors and non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors are known to be present in a higher magnitude in diabetic patients with chronic kidney disease and are known to partially account for the increased incidence of cardiovascular disease compared to non-diabetic chronic kidney disease patients.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Akashkumar N Singh"

  • - Akashkumar N Singh's research primarily focuses on the intersection of chronic diseases, particularly examining the prevalence and implications of hyperuricemia in hypertension patients and the association of chronic kidney disease with cardiovascular risks among diabetic and non-diabetic populations.
  • - He highlights the effectiveness of a WhatsApp community in facilitating Continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians, underscoring the adaptability of social media tools for professional development and knowledge exchange within medical communities.
  • - His findings indicate a higher prevalence of hyperuricemia in hypertensive individuals in India and emphasize the increased cardiovascular risks faced by diabetic patients with chronic kidney disease, calling for heightened awareness and early diagnosis in these populations.
