Conventional vs Accelerated Rehabilitation Protocol Following Reattachment of Achilles Tendon for Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy.

Background: No studies have compared early vs conventional postoperative weightbearing following suture bridge Achilles tendon reattachment. We, therefore, evaluated postoperative functional outcomes in these patients.

Methods: We collected data on 49 patients who underwent surgical treatment of insertional Achilles tendinopathy using a central Achilles tendon-splitting approach and reattachment with suture bridge technique by a single surgeon.

Neglected Iatrogenic Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon Rupture After Haglund's Endoscopic Surgery: A Case Report.

Rupture of the flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tendon is a rare condition that can occur with direct or indirect trauma; most of the injuries are complete ruptures resulting from laceration. Endoscopic calcaneoplasty is used for treatment of symptomatic Haglund's deformity, and complications of this procedure are rare. Iatrogenic FHL tendon rupture occurring after endoscopic calcaneoplasty has not been reported previously.

Hindfoot Injuries: How to Avoid Posttraumatic Varus Deformity?

Posttraumatic hindfoot varus may result from nonoperative treatment or inadequate reduction and fixation of talar and calcaneal fractures. Adequate visualization of the talar neck via bilateral approaches is essential in avoiding malreduction. In cases of medial comminution of the talar neck, lag screws must be avoided and the use of single or double plates should be considered.

Radiographic parameters in gravity stress view of the ankle: Normative data.

Background: In rotational ankle injury with isolated fibular fracture, deltoid integrity is important for determining stability of ankle. Medial clear space and superior clear space in gravity stress view are parameters widely used to predict deltoid ligament tear. The purpose of this study is to report radiographic parameters in gravity stress view in normal population.

Simultaneous Phrenic and Intercostal Nerves Transfer for Elbow Flexion and Extension in Total Brachial Plexus Root Avulsion Injury.

Background: To report the results of restoring the elbow flexion and extension in patients with total brachial root avulsion injuries by simultaneous transfer of the phrenic nerve to the nerve to the biceps and three intercostal nerves to the nerve of the long head of the triceps.

Methods: Ten patients with total brachial root avulsion injuries underwent the spinal accessory nerve transfer to the suprascapular nerve for shoulder reconstruction. Simultaneous transfer of the phrenic nerve to the nerve to the biceps via the sural nerve graft and three intercostal nerves to the nerve of the long head of the triceps was done for restoration of the elbow flexion and extension.
