Context: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common sexual disorder. In France, recent evidence-based guidelines are lacking.

Aim: To provide practice guidelines on ED therapeutic management.

Salvage procedures for infected penile implants: A comprehensive review and analysis of functional outcomes.

Background: The salvage procedure for infected penile implants (IPs) has been a subject of interest since its inception in the late 1980s, yet its widespread adoption remains limited. The aim of this study was to realize a systematic literature review to provide a comprehensive analysis of salvage techniques for IPs and assess their efficacy, specifically focusing on functional success.

Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted using PubMed, employing Mesh terms related to penile prosthesis, penile implant, infection, and salvage procedures.

Evaluation of patient satisfaction using the validated French version of the SSIPI questionnaire after inflatable penile implantation.

Background: Penile prothesis (PP) is a recommended treatment for erectile dysfunction that is refractory to less invasive treatments, but there are few validated tools to assess patient satisfaction.

Aim: The aim of this study was to assess patient satisfaction after PP implantation using the French Satisfaction Survey for Inflatable Penile Implant (SSIPI) questionnaire.

Methods: Demographic, clinical, and perioperative data were collected from all consecutive patients who underwent PP implantation in our center between 2016 and 2021.

[Results of subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy].

Introduction: The subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy is considered as the gold standard surgical technique for the treatment of varicocele. The objective of this study is to evaluate the results of this technique on the resolution of pain and the parameters of sperm analysis.

Methods: Single-center, retrospective study that includes 22 patients who have been operated over a period of six months for a clinically palpable varicocele via the microsurgical subinguinal technique.

[French language validation of the SSIPI questionnaire assessing the satisfaction of patients with penile implant].

Introduction: The objective of this study was to propose a French version of the satisfaction survey for inflatable penile implant (SSIPI) questionnaire.

Material: Questionnaire validation was performed in three steps: translation into French by two urologists, its validation by the committee of andrologist and sexual medicine (CAMS) and an independent translation in English by another urologist to exclude any distortion with the original version. Furthermore, the questionnaire was tested in few patients having penile implant.

Non-continent Urinary Diversion (Ileal Conduit) as Salvage Therapy in Patients With Refractory Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunctions due to Multiple Sclerosis: Results of a National Cohort From the French Association of Urology (AFU) Neurourology Committee and the French-speaking Neurourology Study Group (GENULF).

Objective: To describe the outcomes of ileal conduit as a salvage therapy for refractory lower urinary tract dysfunctions (LUTDs) due to multiple sclerosis (MS) in a national neurourology referral center network.

Methods: A retrospective multicenter French study was carried out to identify MS patients who underwent non-continent urinary diversion for refractory LUTDs from January 2010 to December 2015. Multiple sclerosis status, urological history, surgical indication and technique, postoperative complications, renal anatomy and function at last follow-up as well as number of rehospitalizations for urinary tract infections (UTI) were collected.

[Congenital penile curvature: Guidelines from the Andrology and Sexual Medicine Committee of the French Association of Urology (CAMS-AFU)].

Introduction: Guidelines regarding congenital penile curvature (CPC) are lacking, and this pathology has not been the subject of French recommendations to date. The Andrology and Sexual Medicine Committee (CAMS) of the French Association of Urology (AFU) propose a series of clinical practice recommendations (CPR) by answering five clinical questions concerning the diagnosis and treatment of this pathology.

Materials And Methods: After a bibliographic research between 2000 and 2021, followed by a critical reading according to the CRP method.

[Assessment of trainee urologists' knowledge in urogenital anatomy].

The purpose of this study was to assess trainee urologists' [interns and assistant heads of university hospitals (CHU)] knowledge of the anatomy of the urogenital system. An examination consisting of 10 timed (16minutes) multiple-choice questions (MCQ) based on urogenital anatomy assessments for students in third year of the general medical science diploma program (DFGSM3) was sent to members of the French Association of Trainee Urologists (AFUF) in May 2018 in order to compare the average scores of these two populations. In addition, a questionnaire consisting of epidemiological data, their opinion on the quality of education in anatomy and the willingness to have more courses on this subject was included in the examination.

[Efficacy and safety of local injections treatments for Peyronie's disease: Review of the literature].

Aim: To assess the efficacy and safety of local injection used to reduce penile curvature in Peyronie's disease.

Methods: A review of the literature was carried out according to the PRISMA guidelines (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes) on the Medline database in April 2020, with the research: "collagenase"[All Fields] OR "Interferon"[All Fields] OR "verapamil"[All Fields] OR "betamethasone"[All Fields] OR "hyaluronic acid"[All Fields] OR "Platelet-Rich Plasma"[All Fields] OR "Stem Cells"[All Fields] AND "peyronie's"[All Fields] AND Controlled Clinical Trial[ptyp]. Only controlled studies with placebo group were included in this review.

[Recommendations of the Committee of Andrology and Sexual Medicine of the AFU concerning the management of andrological and sexual medicine pathologies during the COVID-19 crisis].

Objective: To assist urologists in the management of andrological and sexual medicine pathologies during the COVID-19 crisis.

Material And Method: Use of the formalized consensus method.

Results: The medical and surgical management of patients in andrology and sexual medicine must be adapted.

[French Urological Association (AFU) guidelines for Peyronie's disease assessment and treatment].

Introduction: Peyronie's disease is a common cause for consultation in urology. Many controversies surround its treatment. No French Guidelines have been published so far.

Long-term outcomes after penile prosthesis placement for the Management of Erectile Dysfunction: a single-Centre experience.

Background: Penile prothesis (PP) is the gold-standard treatment of drug-refractory erectile dysfunction (ED). While postoperative outcomes have been widely described in the literature, there are few data about patient satisfaction and intraoperative events. We aimed to assess long-term patient satisfaction and perioperative outcomes after PP implantation in a single-centre cohort of unselected patients using validated scales.

[AFU and SALF recommendations for the evaluation of male infertility].

Background: The aim of these Association Française d'Urologie (AFU) and Société d'Andrologie de Langue Française (SALF) common recommendations are to provide practice guidelines for the French Urological and Andrological community regarding the evaluation of infertile men.

Material And Methods: Literature search in PubMed using the keywords "male infertility", "diagnosis", "management" and "evaluation" limited to clinical articles in English and French prior to 1/01/2020. To inform the level of evidence, the HAS grading system (2013) was applied.

[Recommendations of the Committee of Andrology and Sexual Medicine of the AFU concerning the management of Varicocele].

The diagnosis of varicocele is clinical, carried out in supine and standing position and in Valsalva maneuver. Only clinical varicoceles have to be treated. A scrotal ultrasound with Doppler is generally performed as part of the infertile man's evaluation or in case of examination difficulties.

Outcomes of ileal conduit urinary diversion in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Aim: The objective of this study was to report the long-term outcomes and complications of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) who underwent noncontinent urinary diversion to treat lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

Material And Methods: A retrospective study included all adult patients with MS who underwent an ileal conduit urinary diversion between 2000 and 2015. Early postoperative complications were reported as well as long-term complications, reoperation rates, and renal function.

[Priapism: Diagnosis and management].

Testosterone replacement in transgenic sickle cell mice controls priapic activity and upregulates PDE5 expression and eNOS activity in the penis.

Sickle cell disease (SCD)-associated priapism is characterized by decreased nitric oxide (NO) signaling and downregulated phosphodiesterase (PDE)5 protein expression and activity in the penis. Priapism is also associated with testosterone deficiency, but molecular mechanisms underlying testosterone effects in the penis in SCD are not known. Given the critical role of androgens in erection physiology and NO synthase (NOS)/PDE5 expression, we hypothesized that testosterone replacement to eugonadal testosterone levels reduces priapism by reversing impaired endothelial (e)NOS activity and molecular abnormalities involving PDE5.

cAMP-dependent regulation of RhoA/Rho-kinase attenuates detrusor overactivity in a novel mouse experimental model.

Objective: To investigate detrusor function and cAMP activation as a possible target for detrusor overactivity in an experimental model lacking a key denitrosylation enzyme, S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR).

Materials And Methods: GSNOR-deficient (GSNOR ) (n = 30) and wild-type (WT) mice (n = 26) were treated for 7 days with the cAMP activator, colforsin (1 mg/kg), or vehicle intraperitoneally. Cystometric studies or molecular analyses of bladder specimens were performed.

Critical Analysis of Satisfaction Assessment After Penile Prosthesis Surgery.

Introduction: Penile prosthesis implantation is believed to provide a high level of patient satisfaction. The International Index of Erectile Function and the Erectile Dysfunction Inventory of Treatment Satisfaction are two validated questionnaires that have been used to assess this outcome. The lack of a tool specifically validated for patients undergoing penile prosthesis surgery has led to the use of heterogeneous methods to assess patient satisfaction.
