The simplest KNC, Kpp, has the structure Λp = (Kp)p, in which a real kaon migrates between two nucleons, mediating super-strong Λp attraction. Production data of Kpp have been accumulated by DISTO, J-PARC E27 and J-PARC E15 experiments.

Perovskite quantum dots (pQDs) have gathered a lot of attention because of their outstanding optoelectronic properties. Photoswitchable pQDs have the potential for application in single particle optical memories and bio-imaging. Hybrids of photochromic diarylethenes (DAE) and pQDs show a luminescence photoswitching property, however, the cycle stability in such systems is low because of photoinduced electron transfer (PET) from pQDs to DAE.

Photoswitchable nanomaterials are key materials in the development of advanced imaging techniques, such as super-resolution fluorescence microscopy. Highly luminescent silica-coated CsPbX3 quantum dots (QDs) with good photostability were synthesized and coupled with photochromic diarylethene to modulate the QDs' photoluminescence (PL). Upon successive UV and visible light irradiation, the PL emission from the silica-coated CsPbX3 QDs was repeatedly quenched and restored, demonstrating the promising feasibility of the QD/diarylethene-based photoswitches.

Semiconducting metal oxide nanocrystals are an important class of materials that have versatile applications because of their useful properties and high stability. Here, we developed a simple route to synthesize nanocrystals (NCs) of copper oxides such as Cu₂O and CuO using a hot-soap method, and applied them to H₂S sensing. Cu₂O NCs were synthesized by simply heating a copper precursor in oleylamine in the presence of diol at 160 °C under an Ar flow.

Non-relativistic Faddeev and Faddeev-Yakubovsky calculations were made for K(-)pp, K(-)ppn, K(-)K(-)p and K(-)K(-)pp kaonic nuclear clusters, where the quasi bound states were treated as bound states by employing real separable potential models for the K(-)-K(-) and the K(-)-nucleon interactions as well as for the nucleon-nucleon interaction. The binding energies and spatial shrinkages of these states, obtained for various values of the K interaction, were found to increase rapidly with the K interaction strength. Their behaviors are shown in a reference diagram, where possible changes by varying the K interaction in the dense nuclear medium are given.

A recent successful observation of a dense and deeply bound K nuclear system, K-pp, in the p+p→K++K-pp reaction in a DISTO experiment indicates that the double-K dibaryon, K-K-pp, which was predicted to be a dense nuclear system, can also be formed in p+p collisions. We find theoretically that the K--K- repulsion plays no significant role in reducing the density and binding energy of K-K-pp and that, when two Λ(1405) resonances are produced simultaneously in a short-range p+p collision, they act as doorways to copious formation of K-K-pp, if and only if K-K-pp is a dense object, as predicted.

The limit of neutron-rich nuclei, the neutron drip line, evolves regularly from light to medium-mass nuclei except for a striking anomaly in the oxygen isotopes. This anomaly is not reproduced in shell-model calculations derived from microscopic two-nucleon forces. Here, we present the first microscopic explanation of the oxygen anomaly based on three-nucleon forces that have been established in few-body systems.

The formation spectra of model KN and KNN systems formed by (K(-),n) reactions are investigated in order to obtain a theoretical basis for a proper interpretation of experimental data concerning kaonic nuclear quasi-bound states. It has been clarified that the experimentally observable kaonic nuclear state K(-)pp should be regarded as the decaying state introduced by Kapur-Peierls, which is different from the pole state solution of the Faddeev equation.

We have studied the structure of K (-) pp comprehensively by solving this threebody system in a variational method, starting from the Ansatz that the Λ(1405) resonance (≡Λ (*)) is a K (-) p bound state. The structure of K (-) pp reveals a molecular feature, namely, the K (-) in Λ (*) as an "atomic center" plays a key role in producing strong covalent bonding with the other proton. We point out that strongly bound K̄ nuclear systems are formed by "super strong" nuclear force due to migrating real bosonic particles K̄ a la Heitler-London-Heisenberg, whereas the normal nuclear force is caused by mediating virtual mesons.
