Previously undescribed benzophenone rhamnosides, triadenosides A-F (1-6), were isolated from the aerial parts of Triadenum japonicum (Blume) Makino (Hypericaceae), where known compounds including benzophenone rhamnosides (7 and 8), benzophenone C-glucoside (9), flavonols and their glycosides (10-17), and biflavone (18) were also isolated and identified. Detailed spectroscopic analysis revealed that triadenoside A (1) was 2,3',5'-trihydroxy-4,6-dimethoxybenzophenone 2-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside, while the absolute configuration of the rhamnosyl moiety was confirmed by HPLC analysis. Triadenosides B-E (2-5) were assigned as acetyl derivatives of 1 in their rhamnosyl moieties.

The level of APAP-induced liver injury has been known to vary among animal species, and APAP concentrations that induce cell death have been investigated using primary cultured cells. We constructed in vitro model of APAP-induced hepatotoxicity using mouse, rat, and human hepatoma cell lines to investigate species differences in the APAP-induced cytotoxicity by monitoring cell death as a marker.

IASTM was performed to one foot of the twenty-eight young men (IASTM condition), and the other foot of them was assigned to the control condition. Using ultrasonography, the resting shear wave propagation velocity of the abductor hallucis and plantar fascia and navicular height in a seated posture were determined.

Fourteen young males randomly received three types of 20-min recovery interventions (cryotherapy with CDH [CDH-condition] or normal ice [ICE-condition], or quiet sitting at room temperature [CON-condition]) 5 min following a fatiguing task (50 maximal effort isotonic contractions) on three separate days. The isotonic peak power of the knee extensors at 35 min after the fatiguing task in the CDH-condition (95% of baseline) was greater than that in the other conditions (82-89% of baseline; ≤ 0.

(Gesneriaceae), a medicinal plant used in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, resulted in the isolation of 13 secondary metabolites including two methoxyflavones, six flavonoid glycosides, and five caffeoyl phenylethanoid glycosides. Among these, the chemical structures of previously undescribed metabolites (1-3) were elucidated to be nevadensin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), nevadensin 7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), and 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethyl-1-O-β-D-apiofuranosyl-(1 → 4)-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-(6'-O-E-caffeoyl)glucopyranoside (3) by detailed spectroscopic and HPLC analyses.

Heme is an essential prosthetic molecule for life activities and is well known to act as the active center of many proteins, however, labile heme (LH) released from proteins is a harmful molecule that produces reactive oxygen species and must be strictly controlled. Recently, LH has been suggested to function as an important molecule for diverse physiological responses. Quantitative analysis of the intracellular dynamics of LH is essential for understanding its physiological functions, a substantially practical method has not been established.

The maintenance of anterior knee stability after ACL reconstruction is contingent on graft tension. Various devices and techniques have been used to achieve robust tibial graft tendon fixation, and their advantages and disadvantages are established.

(Hypericaceae) led to the isolation of formohyperins G-L (1-6), whose structures were assigned by detailed spectroscopic analysis. Formohyperins G-L (1-6) are new benzoylphloroglucinols substituted by a C unit, a prenyl group, and a methyl group.

The total synthesis of 1,4a-di--pancratistatin, a novel stereoisomer of the anti-tumor alkaloid pancratistatin, was achieved in 14 steps starting from D-mannitol. The construction of the pancratistatin skeleton involved conjugate addition of organocuprate to a nitrosoolefin, which was generated from inosose oxime. This was followed by stereoselective reduction of the oxime to an amine and site-selective formylation.

However, its long-term patency and complications have not been recognized widely. We report our 16-year experience with hemodialysis access creation using the brachial artery transposition (BAT) technique.

Methods: Thirty-two male older adults (age 65-88 years) were separated into 1) fast-speed exercise (Fast-group), 2) slow-speed exercise (Slow-group), and 3) no exercise (Control-group) groups. Participants in the exercise groups performed 30-45 repetitions of knee-extension and sit-to-stand exercises 3 times a week for 8 weeks with different exercise speed between the groups.
Phytochemical study on the roots of a medicinal plant Ferula communis L. (Apiaceae) resulted in the isolation of 20 sesquiterpenes including 12 previously undescribed compounds, dauferulins A-L (1-12). The detailed spectroscopic analysis revealed 1-12 to be daucane-type sesquiterpenes with a p-methoxybenzoyloxy group at C-6.

Detailed spectroscopic analyses showed that formohyperins A-D were meroterpenes with an enolized 3-phenylpropane-1,3-dione moiety. Formohyperins E and F were elucidated as meroterpenes having a 4-benzoyl-5-hydroxycyclopent-4-ene-1,3-dione moiety.

However, the expected change in graft tension caused by cyclic knee motion remains unclear. We measured graft tension changes caused by cyclic knee motion during double-bundle ACL reconstruction.

Phase angle is regarded as the quantity and/or quality of skeletal muscle and is associated with exercise performance, such as jump height and walking speed. Although the phase angle derived from BIA is assumed to be a useful way to assess muscle function, the relationship between the phase angle and neuromuscular properties has not been fully investigated.

The present study aimed to compare the acute effects of static stretching on non-muscular tissue stiffness between older and young adults and to investigate whether a decrease in tissue stiffness improves joint flexibility.
Methods: Twenty older (62-83 years) and 20 young (21-24 years) males participated.
The impact of repeated administration of cinntamtannin A2 (A2, 25 μg/kg) on skeletal muscle disuse atrophy model mice induced by hindlimb suspension for 14 days was examined. In soleus, weight loss and a reduction in the average myofibre size with shifting to the smaller side of the peak were observed in the suspension-vehicle group, but A2 reduced these changes. Average myofibre size significantly increased in ground-A2 compared to ground-vehicle.
