In newborns, both term and preterm, cochlear hearing loss is common due to different pathologies. Currently accepted methods for hearing screening in newborns are otoacoustic emission (OAE) and auditory brainstem responses. Among these two, OAE is quicker, economical and more accessible.

Status epilepticus as the only presentation of the neonatal Bartter syndrome.

Bartter syndrome is a rare hereditary (autosomal recessive) salt-losing tubulopathy characterized by hypokalemia, hypochloremia, metabolic alkalosis, and normal blood pressure with hyperreninemia, The underlying renal abnormality results in excessive urinary losses of sodium, chloride, and potassium. We report a case of a four-month-old infant with neonatal Bartter syndrome, who presented only with status epilepticus. To the best of our present knowledge, there is no reported case of Bartter syndrome who presented with status epilepticus.

Successful intervention in a child with toxic methemoglobinemia due to nail polish remover poisoning.

Children are most susceptible to accidental exposure of common household substances and one of the common household substances is nail polish remover. We are presenting a case of accidental ingestion of nail polish remover with lethal methemoglobinemia (serum methemoglobin level-72%). This patient was treated successfully with injection methylene blue.
