Effectiveness of Normal Saline Irrigation in Reducing Wound Contamination during Oral Cancer Surgery: A Cytological Analysis.

Background: Tumour manipulation during surgery can lead to the dissemination of malignant cells and potential wound contamination. Despite the widespread practice of irrigating surgical sites with normal saline, the efficacy of this measure in reducing epithelial contamination in oral cancer surgery remains unclear.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the proportion of normal saline wash effluents contaminated by epithelial cells or debris during oral cavity cancer surgery, and to evaluate the effectiveness of saline irrigation in reducing contamination.

The Role of Supraclavicular Flap in Reconstruction Following Resection in Buccal Mucosa Carcinoma.

Buccal mucosa is one of the common subsite for oral carcinoma. Following excision of the buccal mucosa tumor mass various pedicled and free flaps have been used to reconstruct the oral cavity defect. In this age of free flaps various locoregional pedicled flaps have been underrated and overlooked and supraclavicular flap is one of them.

Arsenic causing gallbladder cancer disease in Bihar.

In recent times Gallbladder cancer (GBC) incidences increased many folds in India and are being reported from arsenic hotspots identified in Bihar. The study aims to establish association between arsenic exposure and gallbladder carcinogenesis. In the present study, n = 200 were control volunteers and n = 152 confirmed gallbladder cancer cases.

Relapse of Tobacco Consumption in Patients Treated for Head and Neck Cancer: a Cross Sectional Study.

Head and neck cancers are a major healthcare burden in the Indian Subcontinent mainly due to tobacco consumption. While advances in treatment have resulted in better control rates and survival, relapse of tobacco consumption contributes to recurrences. The authors embarked upon a cross-sectional questionnaire-based study to assess the burden of tobacco relapse along with factors resulting into relapse.
