Background: Preeclamptic women, in addition to traditional antihypertensive medications, often receive magnesium supplementation and are at increased risk of postspinal hypotension Postspinal hypotension increases the risk of fetomaternal morbidity. Calcium is a physiological antagonist of magnesium in vascular smooth muscle. Therefore, the study hypothesized that calcium is better suited for preserving systemic vascular resistance and preventing postspinal hypotension during cesarean delivery.

Studies comparing the intentional increase in oxygen delivery and normal oxygen delivery during general anaesthesia in elderly patients undergoing major abdominal surgery are limited and have reported contradictory findings. Therefore, the study aimed to evaluate the effect of intraoperative increase in systemic oxygen delivery on postoperative outcomes and quality of life in elderly patients undergoing major abdominal surgery. This randomised, blinded, parallel-arm, pragmatic clinical trial included elderly patients of >60 years of age undergoing major abdominal surgery.

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is one of the independent determinants influencing the length of hospital stay (LOHS) and postoperative complications in colorectal procedures. Preoperative oral carbohydrate loading (OCL) has emerged as a prospective countermeasure for IR. This study aimed to investigate the effects of preoperative carbohydrate loading on postoperative IR, inflammatory parameters, and clinical outcomes in patients undergoing elective colorectal surgery.

Here, in this report, we have discussed persistent oxygen desaturation immediately after extubation in a two-year-old child who underwent Ho-YAG (holmium-yttrium-aluminium garnet) laser ureteroscopic nephrolithotripsy. The child developed bilateral pleural effusion after nephrolithotripsy and required continuous oxygen supplementation to maintain oxygen saturation above 95%, followed by ultrasound-guided thoracentesis.

Four pregnant women with the acute onset of flaccid paralysis presented between January 2018 and December 2021. Focussed history and physical examination helped an appropriate radiological and laboratory investigation plan to be made.

The shared physiological mechanisms of depression and anaesthetic drugs are likely to alter the pharmacodynamics of propofol. Therefore, the study aimed to evaluate the burden of presurgical depression and its effect on propofol consumption during anaesthesia.

Therefore, the study aimed to assess the effect of 100% fractional inspiration of oxygen (FiO) on pulmonary and systemic hemodynamics in patients with combined pre- and post-capillary pulmonary hypertension (CpcPH) and isolated post-capillary pulmonary hypertension (IpcPH) due to PH-VHD.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted among patients with PH-VHD undergoing mitral or aortic valve replacement or repair.
Background: Hyperoxygenation has shown promise in improving suspicious fetal heart patterns in women in labor. However, the effect of hyperoxygenation on neonatal outcomes in women in labor with pathologic fetal heart rate tracing has not been studied.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of fractional inspiration of oxygen of 80% compared with fractional inspiration of oxygen of 40% on neonatal outcomes in women with pathologic fetal heart rate tracing.
