Background: Chironomidae, commonly known as non-biting midges, are key indicators of the health and biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems. They are also one of the most abundant and diverse groups of aquatic invertebrates. We present a list of beetles that emerged from wind-felled tree trunks of several tree species, including European ash (), aspen (), common oak (), birch ( sp.), small-leaved linden () and black alder (). Four hundred and ninety species and 60 families of beetles were collected using trunk-emergence type traps.
