The subsequent introduction of both anti-integrins and cytokine blockers has since expanded the biologic armamentarium. However, immunogenicity, defined as the production of anti-drug antibodies (ADAs) to the prescribed biopharmaceutical, means a significant fraction of patients exposed to biologic agents will experience a secondary loss of response to one or more of the drugs.

Cardiac tissue engineering (cTE) has already advanced towards the first clinical trials, investigating safety and feasibility of cTE construct transplantation in failing hearts. However, the lack of well-established preservation methods poses a hindrance to further scalability, commercialization, and transportation, thereby reducing their clinical implementation. In this study, hypothermic preservation (4 °C) and two methods for cryopreservation (, a slow and fast cooling approach to -196 °C and -150 °C, respectively) were investigated as potential solutions to extend the cTE construct implantation window.

Background: Guidelines generally recommend a combination of immunological assays and chest X-ray imaging (CXR) when screening for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) prior to biologic treatment in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Objective: To investigate whether CXR identify patients with suspected LTBI/TB who were not identified with QuantiFERON tests (QFT) when screening for LTBI/TB before starting biologic treatment in IBD patients.

Methods: Single-center, retrospective cohort study of patients with inflammatory bowel disease who had a QFT and a CXR prior to initiation of biologic treatment in a 5-year period (October 1st, 2017 to September 30th, 2022).

Hydrogels are ideal materials to encapsulate cells, making them suitable for applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. However, they generally do not possess adequate mechanical strength to functionally replace human tissues, and therefore they often need to be combined with reinforcing structures. Understanding the unique functions of different subregions of primate prefrontal cortex has been a longstanding goal in cognitive neuroscience. Yet, the anatomy and function of one of its largest subregions (the frontopolar cortex) remain enigmatic and underspecified. Our Society for Neuroscience minisymposium will comprise a range of new anatomic and functional approaches that have helped to clarify the basic circuit anatomy of the frontal pole, its functional involvement during performance of cognitively demanding behavioral paradigms in monkeys and humans, and its clinical potential as a target for noninvasive brain stimulation in patients with brain disorders.

Unlabelled: Women in midlife experience health risks that could be mitigated by regular physical activity and reduced sedentary time, but this population rarely achieves physical activity levels that would protect their health. As a result, many behavioral interventions are designed to promote physical activity in this population, which are purportedly guided by theoretical models of health behavior (change) and activate an associated set of behavior change techniques (BCTs). The efficacy and effectiveness of these interventions appear to be limited, however, raising questions about their design and adaptation for women in midlife.

BACKGROUND: Whether infliximab therapy can be successfully discontinued after patients with Crohn’s disease have attained sustained, clinical, biochemical, and endoscopic remission is unknown. METHODS: We conducted a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled withdrawal study of infliximab in patients with Crohn’s disease who were in clinical, biochemical, and endoscopic remission after standard infliximab maintenance therapy for at least 1 year. Patients were randomly assigned 1:1 to continue infliximab therapy or to receive matching placebo for 48 weeks.

Primate frontopolar cortex (FPC), occupied by area 10, sits atop a functional hierarchy of prefrontal cortical regions, yet little is known about its involvement in wider cortical networks. Here we examined resting-state-functional-connectivity (rsfc) in rhesus monkeys with intact or lesioned FPC to identify cortical regions associated with FPC. We present a network of FPC-specific regions of interest (ROIs), whose connectivity was affected by lesion of FPC but not by lesion of neighbouring prefrontal cortex (principal sulcus).

What Is Known And Objectives: Although the apixaban Food and Drug Administration (FDA) package insert recommends dose reduction in patients administered dual strong inhibitors of p-glycoprotein (P-gp) and cytochrome P-450 (CYP) 3A4, there are limited published data regarding potential drug-drug interactions between apixaban (Eliquis) and common p-glycoprotein (P-gp) and CYP3A4 inhibitors co-administered with statins. The aim of this study was to investigate the degree of elevation relative to apixaban serum peak and trough concentration after the co-administration of amiodarone, diltiazem and statins (atorvastatin, rosuvastatin and simvastatin).

Methods: Patients prescribed apixaban 5mg twice daily for at least one week were identified from the anticoagulation clinic database and contacted for potential enrolment.

Background: To implement therapeutic drug monitoring-based strategies for infliximab (IFX) in inflammatory bowel disease, the authors assessed IFX levels for optimal discrimination between remission and nonremission and compared assays for anti-IFX antibodies (Abs).

Methods: The retrospective cohort comprised 163 bionaive patients with inflammatory bowel disease who received stable IFX maintenance therapy (5 mg/kg every 8 weeks [q8w]) for 1 year. The clinical and biochemical remission status was assessed at all infusions (weeks 14-22-30-38-46-54), and IFX and anti-IFX Abs were estimated using a time-resolved fluorometric assay (n = 690; 88% of infusions).

Social behavior is coordinated by a network of brain regions, including those involved in the perception of social stimuli and those involved in complex functions, such as inferring perceptual and mental states and controlling social interactions.
