Histological Comparison of Buccal and Lingual Mucosa Grafts for Urethroplasty: Do They Share Tissue Structures and Vascular Supply?

Comparable outcomes were published using a buccal mucosa graft (BMG) from the cheek and a lingual mucosa graft (LMG) from the sublingual area, for urethral augmentation or substitution. To date, no histological comparison between both grafts has been conducted. We histologically assessed BMG and LMG harvested during urethral surgeries, aiming to compare graft properties and vascular support.

Pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis "de novo" after lung transplantation.

A pulmonary Langerhans cell histiocytosis is presented in a 40 year-old woman two years after bilateral lung transplantation for emphysema without any signs of Langerhans cells proliferation in the explanted lungs. A microsatellite molecular analysis showed the proliferating cells were generated in a recipient cellular clone. The patient did not quit smoking after transplantation.

Plexiform leiomyoma of the esophagus: a complex radiographic, pathologic and endoscopic diagnosis.

Radiographic identification of an abnormal lesion in the esophagus routinely occurs during workup of patients with symptomatic dysphagia. Leiomyoma is the most common benign finding; however, plexiform leiomyoma, a distinctive but rare variant, follows an unusual pattern of growth which can be a challenging surgical resection. A review of indexed literature identified a single previous report.
