Cementitious composite is one of the most widely used construction materials around the world, but cement production is accompanied by energy waste and CO emission. Wollastonite, a natural fibrous silicate mineral, can be a potential supplementary cementing materials (SCMs) for cementitious composite owing to its similar calcium silicate system, and it has an eco-friendly and convenient production process. Furthermore, its unique fibrous structure can possibly act as reinforcement for the cement matrix.

Microstructured Ni/PPy (PPy: polypyrrole) core/shell composites were prepared from an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole (Py) monomer in the presence of Ni powder, with ammonium persulfate (APS) as oxidant and citric acid (C6H8O7) as dopant. X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared analyses indicate that there is no chemical interaction between Ni powder and protonated PPy. The mass percentages of PPy, calculated from the remanent weight percentages of Ni/PPy composites after thermogravimetric analysis, are in consistent with those as designed.

The aims of this study were to encapsulate arbutin (AR) in liposome to enhance the skin-whitening activity, and to investigate the effect of liposome formulation on the entrapment efficiency (EE%), skin permeation rate and skin deposition. The liposomes were prepared by a film dispersion method with several different formulations and were separated from the solution by using the gel-filtration method. The physical (size distribution, morphology) and chemical (drug entrapment efficiency, hairless mouse skin permeation and deposition) properties of liposomes were characterized.
