Purpose: To comprehensively understand the spiritual care competencies of orthopedic nurses and analyze the factors that affect them.
Methods: This study employed convenience sampling to conduct a cross-sectional survey among orthopedic nurses at Hefei First People's Hospital. Data was collected utilizing a general information questionnaire, alongside the Chinese versions of the Spiritual Care Competence Scale, the Spiritual Care Perspective Scale, the Professional Identity Assessment Scale, and the Hospital Ethical Climate Scale.
A transition-metal-free route for tandem one-pot synthesis of naphthoquinonefuran derivatives from 2-hydroxynaphthoquinones has been developed. The sequentially accomplished process comprises an intermolecular alkynylation of sp-carbon at the 3 position of 2-hydroxynaphthoquinones with arylethynyl bromides, followed by a base-promoted intramolecular nucleophilic annulation reaction. A broad range of functional groups is compatible with this reaction, and diverse naphtho[2,3-]furan-4,9-diones can be obtained with good yields and excellent regioselectivity.

Methods: 202 uncontrolled type 2 diabetics, who were previously prescribed sulfonylurea monotherapy(n=100) or sulfonylurea in combination with metformin (n=102) were enrolled in the study. The amount of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF) and CD74 in serum, urinary MIF to creatine ratio(UMCR), urinary CD74 to creatine ratio(UCCR), urinary albumin to creatine ratio(UACR) and urinary podocalyxin to creatine ratio (UPCR) were determined.
Although the pathogenetic mechanisms of diabetic nephropathy (DN) have not been elucidated thoroughly, an inflammatory mechanism has been suggested to contribute to its development and progression. Moncyte chemoattractant protein (MCP)-1 is a chemokine that can attract macrophages and T cells from the circulation to the local kidney, then activate them, and ultimately injure the renal tissue. Recent studies have demonstrated that thiazolidinediones decrease urinary albumin (ALB) excretion, which may be partly related to its anti-inflammatory action.

Methods: Twenty-four Wistar rats were randomly assigned to a normal control group (Group A, n=8), and STZ-induced diabetic group (Group B, n=8), or a simvastatin-treated diabetic group (Group C, n=8). Rats in Group C were treated with simvastatin (20 mg kg(-1) day(-1)) 1 week after the establishment of the diabetic model.
