Green tea (Camellia sinensis) catechin epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) has been shown to possess diverse anti-cancerous properties. We demonstrated EGCG ability to inhibit acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) cell proliferation and cause apoptosis. In addition, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) analysis revealed elevated expression of genes associated with cell cycle arrest and differentiation (p27, PCAF, C/EBPα, and C/EBPɛ).
