Erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL), characterized by erythematous subcutaneous nodules with multiorgan involvement and systemic manifestations such as neuritis, arthritis, and orchitis, affects approximately 50 % of patients with lepromatous leprosy (LL). It has also been associated with testicular atrophy and adult-onset hypogonadism, but testicular nodules have rarely been reported. We present the case of a 35-year-old male patient with biopsy confirmed LL who completed multidrug therapy and presented for follow-up with a complaint of testicular tenderness.

Article Synopsis
  • Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha inhibitors, specifically adalimumab, are important treatments for inflammatory conditions like hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), but they carry risks, including rare cases of heart failure.
  • A case report of a 67-year-old man with severe HS revealed that after restarting adalimumab, he experienced symptoms of heart failure and was ultimately diagnosed with decompensated congestive heart failure, leading to his death.
  • This situation highlights the need for more research on the risks associated with adalimumab, particularly regarding heart failure, to ensure better patient care and management.
