The transfer of genetic material between stocks and scions of grafted plants has been extensively studied; however, the nature and frequency of the transferred material remain elusive. Here, we report a grafting system involving woody goji as the stock and herbaceous tomato as the scion, which was developed using in vitro and in vivo approaches; the results confirmed horizontal transfer of multiple nuclear DNA fragments from donor goji cells to recipient tomato cells. Tomato tissues containing goji donor DNA fragments at or near the grafting junctions had a perennial-biased anatomical structure, from which roots or shoots were regenerated.

A regioselective radical α,γ-diphosphinylation of allylamines with secondary phosphine oxides by photoinduced cobaloxime catalysis is described. The reaction tolerates a wide range of allylamines and phosphine oxides, affording α-amino diphosphine dioxides in moderate to good yields with hydrogen evolution. The synthesis of new diphosphine monoxide and diphosphine ligands and the promising antitumor activities of products demonstrate the great potential applications of this approach in catalysis and drug discovery.

Anthracyclines have significantly improved the survival of children with malignant tumors, but the associated cardiotoxicity, an effect now under the purview of pediatric cardio-oncology, due to its cumulative and irreversible effects on the heart, limits their clinical application. A systematic screening and risk stratification approach provides the opportunity for early identification and intervention to mitigate, reverse, or prevent myocardial injury, remodeling, and dysfunction associated with anthracyclines. This review summarizes the risk factors, surveillance indexes, and preventive strategies of anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity to improve the safety and efficacy of anthracyclines.

CD8 T cell immune responses are regulated by multi-layer networks, while the post-translational regulation remains largely unknown. Transmembrane ectodomain shedding is an important post-translational process orchestrating receptor expression and signal transduction through proteolytic cleavage of membrane proteins. Here, by targeting the sheddase A Disintegrin and Metalloprotease (ADAM)17, we defined a post-translational regulatory mechanism mediated by the ectodomain shedding in CD8 T cells.

This study establishes the physiological role of Fused in Sarcoma (FUS) in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) repair and highlights its implications to the pathogenesis of FUS-associated neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Endogenous FUS interacts with and recruits mtDNA Ligase IIIα (mtLig3) to DNA damage sites within mitochondria, a relationship essential for maintaining mtDNA repair and integrity in healthy cells. Using ALS patient-derived FUS mutant cell lines, a transgenic mouse model, and human autopsy samples, we discovered that compromised FUS functionality hinders mtLig3's repair role, resulting in increased mtDNA damage and mutations.
