Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) is important in maintaining central and peripheral immune tolerance in normal tissues, mediating tumor immune escape and keeping the balance between anti- and pro-inflammatory responses. Inflammation plays an important role in inflammatory lung diseases. This article reviews the research progress and potential clinical value of PD-L1 in inflammatory lung diseases, including acute lung injury, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

In this paper, two new strians, Issatchenkia occidentalis (Lj-3, CCTCC M 2006097) and Issatchenkia orienalis (S-7, CCTCC M 2006098), isolated from different environments on solid media, were used in the detoxification process of the hemicellulosic hydrolysate of sugarcane bagasse. High-pressure liquid chromatography elution curve of UV-absorption compounds represented by acetic acid, furfural, and guaiacol (toxic compounds found in the hemicellulosic hydrolysate) showed that several chromatographic peaks were evidently diminished for the case of detoxified hydrolysate with isolate strains compared to the high peaks resulted for no detoxified hydrolysate. It was clear that these inhibitors were degraded by the two new isolates during their cultivation process.

The effects of the concentration of sulfuric acid and the ratio of liquid to solid on xylose yield from sugar cane bagasse in its hemicellulose hydrolysis process were studied with the Quadratic Rotary Combination Design. Regression analysis showed that there was a marked regression relationship between the two factors and xylose yield. As the result of optimizing the hydrolysis conditions by regression equation, xylose yield of 24 g/100 g sugar cane bagasse was obtained when sulfuric acid concentration was 2.
