Vitiligo is an acquired autoimmune skin disease characterized by patchy depigmentation of the skin, often accompanied by white hair. The aetiology of vitiligo is complex and difficult to cure, and its disfiguring appearance significantly impacts patients' mental and physical health. Psychological stress is a major factor in inducing and exacerbating vitiligo, as well as affecting its treatment efficacy, though the specific mechanisms remain unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • - FMX101 4% is a topical foam formulation of minocycline approved for treating moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris, and a study was conducted to evaluate its effectiveness and safety among Chinese patients.
  • - In a phase 3 trial involving 372 subjects, results showed that FMX101 4% led to a significant reduction in inflammation lesion count (ILC) and noninflammatory lesion count (nILC), along with a higher treatment success rate compared to a control foam after 12 weeks.
  • - The treatment was generally safe and well-tolerated, with mostly mild-to-moderate side effects and no serious adverse events linked to the treatment.

Graft versus host disease (GVHD) is a complex immune-mediated pathophysiological process, which is caused by allogenic immune reactions between donors and recipients. No matter ac-ute or chronic GVHD, skin involvement is the most common, severe skin damage can lead to permanent disfigurement, which seriously affects the long-term quality of life of patients. We herein report a patient with generalized vitiligo after allogeneic peripheral hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) for aplastic anemia.

Tinea auricularis is a rare superficial fungal infection, which is easily ignored in clinic due to its atypical clinical symptoms or being accompanied with tinea capitis. In this study, a case of annular erythema with scales around the ear canal orifice was reported. After fungal culture and identification, the patient was diagnosed with infection, and was cured after 3 weeks of topical use of clotrimazole cream.

Per-acetylated epigallocatechin-3-gallate (AcEGCG), a fully acetylated derivative of EGCG, a more potent agent for protection of melanocytes from oxidative damage. We present two patients with vitiligo treated with AcEGCG 0.5% cream, who demonstrated skin repigmentation and control of depigmentation progression.

Background: Tacrolimus ointment is a recently developed topical immunomodulator that has been approved for use in patients with vitiligo older than 2 years. Concern regarding potential systemic toxic effects has limited treatment options for children younger than 2 years. We wanted to determine whether topical tacrolimus therapy is safe and effective in patients with vitiligo younger than 2 years.

Background: Primary cutaneous amyloidosis (PCA) is apruritic and potentially disfiguring disorder; this disease is usually diagnosed clinically due to its common occurrence. However, for cases with atypical presentations or for those physicians not familiar with PCA, the diagnosis can be a challenge.

Objective: To observe the characteristics of PCA under dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) in order to gain experience and reference for clinicians to facilitate diagnosis.

Background: Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) is one of the commonest entities included within the category of cutaneous vasculitis (CV). Our work is purposed to explore the predictive value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for systemic involvement in Henoch- Schonlein purpura patients. This ratio is known as an inflammatory marker, and is used to assess the systemic inflammation associated with various diseases.

This study aimed to investigate the potential biomarkers of vitiligo by evaluating the disease activity and curative effect of autologous cultured pure melanocyte transplantation (CMT) on patients. Altogether, 36patients with stable vitiligo were treated with CMT. Blister fluid samples were collected from patients with stable vitiligo.

Background: Vitiligo represents a commonly diagnosed autoimmune disease caused by the depletion of epidermal melanocytes. Many subsets of T cells contribute to vitiligo pathogenesis, including resident and circulating memory T cells.

Objectives: To analyze the amounts of CD4 and CD8 memory T-cell subsets in peripheral blood specimens from vitiligo patients and alterations caused by narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy.
