- Fine particulate matter (PM) in air pollution can cause serious health issues, and MitoQuinone (MitoQ), an antioxidant, may help protect against these effects, particularly in lung cells.
- In a study, lung epithelial cells (A549) were pretreated with MitoQ before being exposed to PM, and various tests were conducted to measure cell viability, oxidative stress, and apoptosis.
- Results showed that MitoQ improved cell survival, reduced oxidative stress, and protected against PM-induced cell death by restoring mitochondrial function and altering apoptosis-related protein levels.
