The mulberry fruit is edible and medicinal, and it is commonly referred to as the "best health product of the 21st century". The purpose of this study was to find out whether different drying methods affect the quality of mulberry fruits and the main nature of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) they contain. This study used vacuum freeze-drying (VFD), vacuum drying (VD), sun drying (SD), hot-air drying (HAD), and microwave drying (MD) to treat fresh mulberry fruits.

To support the development of gardenia flower products, this study used headspace gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (HS-GC-IMS) technology to compare and analyze the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of fresh gardenia flower and those after using four different drying methods (vacuum freeze-drying (VFD), microwave drying (MD), hot-air drying (HAD), and vacuum drying (VD)). The results show that, in terms of shape, the VFD sample is almost identical to fresh gardenia flower, while the HAD, MD, and VD samples show significant changes in appearance with clear wrinkling; a total of 59 volatile organic compounds were detected in the gardenia flower, including 13 terpenes, 18 aldehydes, 4 esters, 8 ketones, 15 alcohols, and 1 sulfide.

Phage-antibiotic combination treatment is a novel noteworthy drug delivery method in anti-infection. In the current study, we have isolated a new phage, pB23, against carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii 2023. Synergistic antibacterial effect between phage pB23 and meropenem combination could be more stable, using moderate doses of phage (multiplicity of infection ranging from 0.

However, there is no consensus with clear evidence about the side-effects of oxytocin administered intravenously or intramuscularly for management of the third stage of labor. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to evaluate the side-effects of intravenously or intramuscularly oxytocin for preventing hemorrhage in the third stage of labor.

The discovery of effective biomarkers is crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of AMI. In the present study, miRNA sequencing and reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction techniques revealed that the expression of exosome derived miR-152-5p was significantly downregulated in patients with AMI compared with healthy controls.

Compared with inpatient surgery mode (ISM), there are some differences in intraoperative and postoperative related indicators, hospitalization costs, and patient satisfaction. Many studies have shown that LIHR in DSM can significantly shorten hospital stay, effectively reduce hospitalization costs, and improve patient satisfaction.

Although the roles of oxytocin (OXT) and the oxytocin receptor (OXTR) in central analgesia have been well documented, the expression and function of OXTR in the peripheral nervous system remain unclear. Here, we evaluated the peripheral antinociceptive profiles of OXTR in CINP.

The low Curie temperature has stimulated further interest for improving the ferromagnetic stability of CrImonolayer. Here, based on density functional theory calculations, we investigated the adsorption energy, charge transfer, electronic and magnetic properties of gases (CO, CO, N, NH, NO, NO, O, and SO) adsorption on the CrImonolayer.

Background: Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair has developed rapidly as an important surgical method for inguinal hernia repair; however, postoperative complications, especially postoperative seroma, are becoming an important factor hindering its development. Many studies have shown that placing a negative-pressure drainage tube in the preperitoneal space can effectively reduce postoperative seromas. Accordingly, this study aimed to compare differences in postoperative seroma between surgical procedures with drainage tubes (DRG) and those without drainage tubes (nonDRG).

Background: Serum chitinase-3-like protein 1 (CHI3L1) is a promising marker for diagnosing liver fibrosis. This meta-analysis was carried out to assess the diagnostic performance of serum CHI3L1 for the estimation of liver fibrosis.
Methods: Systematic searches were performed on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, the Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, Sinomed, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the Chinese Medical Journal Database, and the Wanfang databases for available studies.
Objective: Estrogen is a critical hormone that is mainly produced by the ovary in females. Estrogen deficiency leads to various syndromes and diseases, partly due to gut microbiota alterations. Previous studies have shown that estrogen deficiency affects the gut microbiota at 6-8 weeks after ovariectomy, but the immediate effect of estrogen deficiency on the gut microbiota remains poorly understood.

Schisandrin B (SchB) has the ability to upregulate cellular antioxidant defense mechanism and promote mitochondrial function and antioxidant status. However, it has not been reported whether it can resist THP-induced cardiotoxicity.

Background Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury causes overproduction of reactive oxygen species, which are the major culprits of oxidative stress that leads to inflammation, apoptosis, myocardial damage, and dysfunction. Bilirubin acts as a potent endogenous antioxidant that is capable of scavenging various reactive oxygen species. We have previously generated bilirubin nanoparticles (BRNPs) consisting of polyethylene glycol-conjugated bilirubin.

TGFβ1 has been the mostly accepted factor to fuel normal fibroblasts transformation into CAFs. Ca/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) is thought to play an important role in fibroblasts activation induced by TGFβ1.

Objective: Low viral load from patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 during infection late stage easily lead to false negative nucleic acid testing results, thus having great challenges to the prevention and control of the current pandemic. In present study, we mainly aimed to evaluate specimen types and specimen collection timepoint on the positive detection of 2019 novel coronavirus from patients at infection late stage based on RT-PCR testing.
Methods: Paired nasopharyngeal swabs, nasal swabs, oropharyngeal swabs and anal swabs were collected from patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 during infection late stage before washing in the morning and afternoon on the same day.
