Our objective was to determine if the addition of a concentrated human recombinant transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF) to bovine semen at the time of AI would result in increased risk of pregnancy in beef and dairy cows. The current work focuses on studying the aqueous phase reforming (APR) of pine and birch hydrolysate obtained from waste wood by using organic acids available from biorefineries. Processing of representative synthetic mixtures was utilized in the work in order to support data interpretation related to the influence of different chemical compound and processing parameters on the APR of the actual hydrolysates. It was shown, that hydrogenation of the hydrolysates prior to APR was not feasible in the presence of formic acid, which ruled out one potential processing route.

To better understand the relationship between faith and LGBTQ+ identity, we conducted a qualitative analysis of 86 respondents to a general question posed through the Dear Abby column. Responses were anonymized and analyzed using a grounded theory approach. Analysis revealed six themes, reflecting a diversity of lived experience from community rejection to acceptance, and self-rejection to feelings of acceptance by God.

This study aims to examine the characteristics of two solid lignin fractions isolated from wheat straw using alkaline and acidic deep eutectic solvents (DESs). Hydrogen-oxidizing bacteria (HOB) have been shown to be promising micro-organisms for the reduction of carbon dioxide to a wide range of value-added products in bioelectrochemical systems with in situ water electrolysis of the cultivation medium, also known as a hybrid biological-inorganic systems (HBI). However, scaling up of this process requires overcoming the inherent constraints of the low energy efficiency partly associated with the pH-neutral electrolyte with low conductivity. Hemicellulose has been extracted from birch (Betula pendula) sawdust by formic acid aided hot water extraction. The maximum amount of hemicellulose extracted was about 70mol% of the total hemicellulose content at 170°C, measured as the combined yield of xylose and furfural. Lower temperatures (130 and 140°C) favored hemicellulose hydrolysis rather than cellulose hydrolysis, even though the total hemicellulose yield was less than at 170°C.

A multilocation study examined pregnancy risk (PR) after delaying AI in suckled beef cows from 60 to 75 h when estrus had not been detected by 60 h in response to a 7-d CO-Synch + progesterone insert (CIDR) timed AI (TAI) program (d -7: CIDR insert concurrent with an injection of GnRH; d 0: PGF injection and removal of CIDR insert; and GnRH injection at TAI [60 or 75 h after CIDR removal]). A total of 1,611 suckled beef cows at 15 locations in 9 states (CO, IL, KS, MN, MS, MT, ND, SD, and VA) were enrolled.
