Smokin' hot: adolescent smoking and the risk of psychosis.

Objective: Daily smoking has been associated with a greater risk of psychosis. However, we are still lacking studies to adjust for baseline psychotic experiences and other substance use. We examined associations between daily smoking and psychosis risk in a 15-year follow-up while accounting for these covariates in a prospective sample (N = 6081) from the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1986.

Unorganized care on chronic wounds is expensive. Resources are focused on the care of complicated wounds, although a significant proportion of the wounds could be prevented or treated at an early stage. Good care is cost-effective, a delayed care and inoperative treatment chain will waste money and resources.

A multinational and multicenter randomized double-blind clinical investigation of 122 patients compared two moist wound healing dressings: a nonadhesive foam dressing with ibuprofen (62 patients randomized to Biatain Ibu Nonadhesive Coloplast A/S) and a nonadhesive foam without ibuprofen (60 patients to Biatain Non-Adhesive-comparator). Patients were recruited from September 2005 to April 2006.

Less pain with Biatain-Ibu: initial findings from a randomised, controlled, double-blind clinical investigation on painful venous leg ulcers.

The ibuprofen-foam was regarded successful, if the pain relief on a 5-point verbal rating scale was higher than the comparator without compromising safety, including appropriate healing rate.

Identification of mononuclear cells in cell suspension from cutaneous infiltrates freed by a suction blister method.

Mononuclear cells were liberated from superficial skin inflammations by a suction blister method which yielded a sufficient number of cells for histochemical and immunocytochemical analysis. The cell population consisted mainly of T cells which were identified as sheep red blood cell rosettes. Very few B cells were found as rosettes with immunobeads.
