Background: Complete revascularization has demonstrated better outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and multivessel disease. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) possess the characteristics of their parent cells, based on which various studies have actively investigated treatments for diseases using mesenchymal stem cell-derived EVs due to their regenerative activity. Furthermore, in recent years, there have been significant efforts to engineer EVs to improve their native activities and integrate additional functions. Although both endogenous and exogenous methods are used for engineering EVs, endogenous methods may pose the problem of administering substances to cells undergoing metabolic changes, which can cause potential side effects.

Background: Data on the clinical impact of beta-blockers (BBs) in patients with myocardial infarction (MI) who had non-reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) after percutaneous coronary intervention are limited.

Methods: From 2016 to 2020, we evaluated a cohort of 12,101 myocardial infarction patients with a non-reduced LVEF (≥40%) from the Korean Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry V. Patients were divided into two groups based on their BB (carvedilol, bisoprolol, or nebivolol) treatment at discharge: with beta-blocker treatment (BB,  = 9,468) and without beta-blocker treatment (non-BB,  = 2,633).

Scaling magnets down to where quantum size effects become prominent triggers quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM), profoundly influencing magnetization dynamics. Measuring magnetization switching in an Fe atomic chain under a carefully tuned transverse magnetic field, we observe a nonmonotonic variation of magnetization lifetimes around a level crossing, known as the diabolic point (DP). Near DPs, local environment effects causing QTM are efficiently suppressed, enhancing lifetimes by three orders of magnitude.

Interspecies hybridization is prevalent in various eukaryotic lineages and plays important roles in phenotypic diversification, adaptation, and speciation. To better understand the changes that occurred in the different subgenomes of a hybrid species and how they facilitate adaptation, we have completed chromosome-level de novo assemblies of all chromosomes for a recently formed hybrid yeast, strain CBS380, using Oxford Nanopore Technologies' MinION long-read sequencing. We characterize the genome and compare it with its parent species, and , and other genomes to better understand genome evolution after a relatively recent hybridization event.
