- A patient with a severe ankle fracture dislocation was treated in the emergency department, where initial steps included irrigation, debridement, and the application of skeletal traction to reduce swelling.
- After a week in traction, attempts to reduce and fix the fibula were unsuccessful due to interposition of the tibialis posterior tendon, which was manipulated back to its proper position to facilitate successful ankle reduction.
- Post-surgery, the wound was closed, and the ankle was immobilized for 6 weeks; the patient ultimately regained full range of motion without complications related to the tendon.
