Background: Juxta-anastomotic stenosis is a common issue of arteriovenous fistulas. We aimed to evaluate the results of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty with drug-coated balloon versus plain balloon for the treatment of juxta-anastomotic stenoses of mature but failing distal radiocephalic arteriovenous fistulas.

Methods: A total of 80 patients with a juxta-anastomotic stenosis of distal radiocephalic arteriovenous fistula in our clinic between January 2016 and September 2017 were retrospectively analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • - A study compared the effectiveness and complications of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and cyanoacrylate closure (CAC) for treating great saphenous vein (GSV) insufficiency in 159 patients over two years.
  • - Both treatments showed similar success rates in closing the veins at 1, 6, and 12 months, with no significant differences in patients’ quality of life scores.
  • - RFA had a longer procedure time and a higher rate of complications compared to CAC, but both methods were effective overall for managing GSV insufficiency.
