Article Synopsis
  • H. pylori is a non-invasive bacterium that triggers significant inflammation in the gastric mucosa, but conflicting evidence exists regarding its impact on proinflammatory cytokine levels in the bloodstream.
  • In a study with 42 dyspeptic patients, H. pylori presence was confirmed in 30 cases through histopathological examination, with no significant differences found in circulating levels of IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-alpha between H. pylori-positive and negative groups.
  • The findings suggest that the inflammatory response caused by H. pylori is localized to the gastric mucosa, without affecting the levels of these cytokines in circulation or correlating with the degree of mucosal inflammation.
