Background: Axial symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD) often respond poorly to pharmacological treatment. We evaluated whether combining repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and repetitive spinal magnetic stimulation (rSMS) is more effective than rTMS alone in improving axial and other motor disabilities in PD.

Methods: A total of 42 PD patients with axial symptoms were randomly allocated to 2 experimental intervention groups: Group I received active rTMS + active rSMS (2000 pulses; 20 Hz; 80% resting motor threshold for each motor area "M1" + 1500 pulses rSMS 10 Hz, at 50% of maximal stimulator output).

A 62-year-old man presented complaining of atrial fibrillation. Plain chest radiography and contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) revealed a large fusiform aneurysmal dilatation of the upper segment of the superior vena cava (SVC) without evidence of rupture, thrombosis, or pulmonary embolism. It was decided to treat the patient conservatively with follow-up imaging recommended.

The aim was to investigate LA strain by feature tracking cardiac MRI in mitral stenosis (MS) patients before and after percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV). Patients underwent cardiac MRI before and after successful PBMV (n = 18). Mitral valve area, transmitral velocity and gradients, LA volumes and ejection fraction (LAEF) were measured.

Purpose: To investigate right ventricular (RV) volume and mass by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and the added value of tissue tracking strain analysis as markers of RV dysfunction in pediatric patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and preserved RV ejection fraction.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-five children with ESRD and preserved RVEF (>50%) and 10 healthy control children were enrolled. Tissue tracking CMR was used to assess Global Longitudinal, circumferential (GCS), and radial short and long axes (GRS SAX and GRS LAX) RV strains in the patients group compared with controls.

Purpose: Assess reproducibility of detection, staging, and grading of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) using whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging with background body signal suppression (WB-DWIBS).

Material And Methods: Thirty NHL patients underwent WB-DWIBS, divided into 2 groups according to staging and grading. Image analysis and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurement of the largest lymph node in each group were performed by 2 observers.

Article Synopsis
  • Venous sinus stenting (VSS) is gaining traction as an effective treatment for idiopathic intracranial hypertension, particularly in cases of transverse sinus stenosis (TSS), highlighting the need for reliable TSS assessment tools like the combined conduit score (CCS).
  • A study evaluated the agreement in CCS evaluations between neuro-interventionalists and radiologists using contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance venography (CE-MRV) on patients with IIH.
  • The study found that while neuro-interventionists had excellent inter-rater reliability among themselves and radiologists had good reliability among themselves, there was significant disagreement between the two groups, indicating a need for improved consistency in assessing TSS.

We present the imaging findings of thoracic systemic venous anomalies diagnosed by computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Persistent left superior vena cava is the commonest anomaly of the thoracic systemic veins encountered either incidentally as an isolated finding or associated with congenital heart disease. Inferior vena cava (IVC) interruption with azygos continuation is the second most common anomaly, which may also be isolated or be associated with left isomerism syndrome.

We herein report a case of a 22-year-old male patient with an unusual presentation of recurrent chylous pericardial and pleural effusions. Lymphatic leak was suspected. Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance lymphangiography (DC-MRL) was performed after ultrasound-guided intranodal injection of contrast through inguinal lymph nodes.

Purpose: In this placebo-controlled trial, we aimed to evaluate the clinical results of using PDE-5 inhibitor, tadalafil 5 mg OD, for management of CP/CPPS.

Patients And Methods: 140 patients ≤ 45 years old with moderate/severe CP/CPPS associated with ED (IIEF-5 < 22) were randomly divided and received either tadalafil 5 mg OD (tadalafil-group) or placebo (control-group) for 6 weeks. Post-treatment CPSI scores were compared to baseline and to placebo.

Renal disease is associated with increased arterial stiffness. The aim was to investigate the effect of renal disease on regional aortic strain and distensibility in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The study included 30 children with CKD on hemodialysis, and ten healthy control subjects.

Background: Chronic kidney disease became a public health problem increasing healthcare burden. Our aim was to detect the relationship between cardiovascular risk, endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, and kidney function in chronic kidney disease patients and to detect the nontraditional factors affecting the decline in kidney functions.

Methods: A cross-sectional study including 30 male and female patients with chronic kidney disease stages 3-5.

Background: Behçet's disease (BD) is a multisystemic vasculitis that may affect the heart. However, the incidence and nature of cardiac involvement in BD have not been clearly documented yet. The aim of this study was to delineate the cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) appearances of cardiac involvement in BD patients.

Objective: Arteriovenous grafts (AVGs) are frequently needed in hemodialysis (HD) patients with unsuitable superficial veins. First cannulation of standard arteriovenous grafts (sAVGs) still require about 2 weeks after implantation. Early cannulation arteriovenous grafts (eAVGs) were suggested to overcome this shortcoming.

Background: Investigating axial position and longitudinal bending of the aorta in relation to spine curvature in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients could help surgeons in planning of spine surgeries.

Methods: Noncontrast computed tomography (CT) scans of 27 consecutive patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (19 right and 8 left curves) and 16 control subjects were retrospectively reviewed. Using semiautomated software, centerline was drawn along the descending aorta, and curved reformat was generated.

Background: Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) represents late left ventricle (LV) dysfunction. Cardiac MRI myocardial strain analysis is an alternative method for assessment of LV function.

Objective: Turner syndrome (TS) patients are at high risk of cardiometabolic disorders. Cardiometabolic risk factors are more commonly related to visceral rather than total body adiposity. Adipocytokines have been explored as a potential link between obesity and obesity-related cardiometabolic dysfunction.

Approximately 30-40% of portal vein thrombosis (PVT) remains of unknown origin. The association between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and PVT is a matter of debate. This study aimed to investigate the association between PVT and NAFLD.

Background: Lymphoma of the female gynecologic tract is extremely rare. Typically, lymphoma is managed nonsurgically unlike other non-lymphomatous malignant tumors raising the importance of differentiation between both entities.

Case Presentation: We describe the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) features of a case of uterovaginal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in a 50-year-old postmenopausal woman emphasizing Diffusion-Weighted Imaging (DWI) as a diagnostic and follow up tool.
