- A total of 4,814 elective surgeries were scheduled in 2014, with 1,235 (26%) being cancelled; the main reason for cancellations was patient no-shows, accounting for 63%.
- The findings suggest that improved management practices, such as regular audits and hiring a procedure booking coordinator, could help reduce cancellation rates and better utilize hospital resources.
